Good Morning-

Starting my day bright and early to get a few minutes in the steam room after my mile.  My weight is 139.2 today. Mixing things up with that protein oat jar may have helped.

Devon.. I am sorry to hear about your injury. Your initial reflection following group aligns with my philosophy and really struck a chord. I know I mentioned this book in the VSG forum awhile back, but "Refuse to Regain"... by Dr. Barbara Berkeley made a major impact on my thinking and ultimately my plan for maintenance. This book is written by a doctor who lost significant weight herself, and has made it her life's purpose to keep it off and to help others do the same. She truly explains how the standard American diet has preset us for difficulty. This is the book that introduced me to a primal lifestyle, which addresses exercise as well as eating. The primal lifestyle supports regular moderate activity, with strength work and some sprinting/high intensity cardio. This book helped me better appreciate the connection and balance between healthy mind, body and spirit. I have to remember to fuel all three. I have placed too much emphasis on high level cardio in the past, thinking more is better. I believe that a lifestyle that I can maintain, balancing fueling mind, body and spirit works the best for me.

Have a great day all !!

I barely got in 7000 steps in yesterday and I avoided the dark and rain as much as possible.  I bow to your hardiness!  Happy Sat!

122.6 today - just under my lower red line. My calories were the same (not increased) yesterday mostly do to just having a busy day. I've already added a little more in for breakfast this morning. No exercise yesterday unless pushing a fairly large patient in a wheelchair all the way across the hospital to our ER counts.

Candlelight snow shoe hike with the Scouts tonight at a local nature preserve. I think I will do boot camp earlier today and some house cleaning

Devon, hope your quad pull is feeling better. OUCH! I tore a hamstring when I was a young adult and it took forever to heal - even with PT.

Hope all our storm affected folks are doing well.

Have a great day everyone!

Yes, way too much emphasis on high level cardio in the past for me as well.  I decided that I wouldn't even think about adding back running or even biking until this summer to give me further time to work on other neglected areas.

Also, love the idea of fueling mind, body and spirit.  I started yoga last June and found it strongly hits on all three.  I didn't realize how much I NEEDED this until I started.

Always enjoy your thoughtful journey!

123.3 for me today.  The last couple of days I have been right about 1200 cals.  I want to do some thinking this weekend about routine meals, macros, etc.  My current go-to's for protein are still good, of course, but am interested in using calories (particularly fat) to increase pleasure in my small, simple meals.

Morning all. I'm down a pound to 113 again which is just where I should be at this point in my weight loss phase.  Just one more pound to go to put me 3 under goal and then I will move back to maintenance mode. My calories have been around 900 these past few days, which is a little lower than I was aiming for but it still feels comfortable.

Still feeling very tired (likely combo of low mood and meds) so didn't get my prep done last night for this evening's guests. Will really have to motor today, which I don't feel like, but things will work out. Will be off plan this evening with high calorie foods and a glass of wine or two.

Hugs

It looks like you know exactly what to do to adjust your weight. From the outside, it appears casually effective.  I hope to know my body so well eventually.  Very inspiring to see!

Enjoy the evening!
