When eating out is the RIGHT thing to do...LOL!

Ron came home after church today, was clearly still tired from his illness, seemed down over all, and just sort of out of sorts. He was hungry, too. I suggested this or that in the house, but he didn't want to fix himself anything (you know when you're in one of those moods!), so I suggested I take him out for a late brunch. He jumped at the offer. We went to a local place that is basically an upscale, high quality Denny's type of place - great breakfasts, great burgers and fries, sandwiches, and basic American dinner fare and absolutely HEAVENLY pies (ever tried upside down apple walnut pie???? Let me tell you....).

It was a nice chance to talk and it gave him the opportunity to vent about some things he's been fretting about. I think by the time we finished with brunch he was feeling much more relaxed. He ordered chicken friend steak smothered in gravy and eggs with hash browns and an english muffin. I had had a protein shake and later on Greek yogurt with some berries and nuts, so I knew I'd eaten less than 300 calories for the day, so I had some flexibility. I ordered an egg scramble with bacon and sausage and cheese. It came with potatoes, too. I've never ordered a scramble before so I was utterly unclear on concept. I pictured scrambled eggs with side of potatoes.

Ha! I was wrong. When it arrived I was quite impressed by the plate and snapped a quick pic. When I was finished I snapped another. I mentioned to Ron that I felt that I might have over eaten (by a bite or two) and his reply was, "I'm still amazed by how little you need to eat to be full." I guess after 4 years I still have some pretty damn good restriction, when I use my sleeve as it should be used.

I generally don't like eating out two days in a row. Eating out makes it much harder for me to track accurately and since I wish to be losing right now.... But, today it was worth it. Ron's in a much better mood, I stayed on plan, and I got a nice reminder of how well my sleeve still works.

Before and after pics!

Looks yummy!  You're right, sometimes we have to take care of our loved ones too.  It looks like you took care of yourself, as well - a great combination!
