My Bento
Sometime between Thanksgiving and Christmas break my beloved mini bento box broke. I could not find an exact replacement, but eventually found a suitable replacement.
As I put my lunch together I mused about how much I thrive on routine. Routine is one of my major tools in weight management. My bento box is part of my lunch routine. It is part of my automatic portion control. It holds just the right amount - almost a bit too much if I chose to stuff it full! The small compartments hold 1/4 cup and the large holds 2.5 - 3.0 oz of protein.
My bento is one of my tricks of the trade - for VSG! I rely on this tool and its use is second nature.
Do you have any tricks or routines that make your VSG life a little easier?
I have two sets of the "21 Day Fix" colored portioned containers I use for fruit, nuts, seeds, protein, and veggies. I've never tried a bento box, but these little containers fit in my lunch bag easily.
Logging in MFP the night before is a routine that helps me stay focused. If I do want to make some swaps, I can look at fat, carbs and protein for the day when considering.
Love the picture !

Love this! Was the original from Frisco? I seem to remember a fuss about bento boxes

Frisco gave a bunch of us bento boxes at a support group meeting in either 2012 or 13. That one broke pretty quickly. (As Frisco said, it was a cheap **** bulk bento.) I got the next one that lasted 2+ years - It was green, too, but is no longer available in the US as far as I can tell. This new one is just a tad bigger, which has its plusses and minuses! The plus is I'm not cramming food into the small compartments to get complete servings. The minus being I have to check my measuring once or twice a week so I don't gradually increase portions over time.
I bought Ron a big Bento (Frankly, it's effing too big even for a normie) and he loves it. They are handy dandy inventions of necessity!
