Good Morning Like Minded Friends-
Positive thought for the day... Intention is the difference between what you want now and what you want the most.
I'm up .6 . Eating, water and exercise were on point yesterday, but a am a bit sore today (I pushed in the pool), so perhaps my muscles are repairing.
Resistance bands and walking tonight. No wind today, so I may be able to be outside!
Have a great day ! This board does feel like family !

I agree that you all feel like family to me! I so appreciate each of you! I also like your positive quote for the day!
Scale at 124.2 today, still going down some. Calories were right on yesterday (maybe 14 over) and carbs good again. I had a rest day from exercise which was good - I was so sore. Think I might do step aerobics today.
Youngest kid home today (second day) with upper respiratory crud. Hoping I can steer clear of it. Our weather has been bitter cold (below 0 to single digits). I HATE winter.
Hope you all have a wonderful day.
Paula
Hello Maintenance Family :)
Interesting thought about intention. I am still trying to wrap my mind around it because I am slow. Did I ever mention what my yoga intention for the year is? It is "joyful movement." I feel all new age-y just typing that. Lets break out the aromatherapy! Anyway, last year was the year of weight loss, this year I want to focus on getting my body's physical function back.
My thought was that focusing on things like avoiding falls didn't sound like fun or particularly motivational. Instead I would focus on fun things I want to do with ease and then work on the foundations for those. A side benefit is that I am less likely to fall. Anyway, joyful movement, not I-am-scared-of-getting-old movement.
Almost forgot: 124.3 this morning.
Enjoy the day --- Diane, glad that the weather is letting up! Paula, sorry that your weather is so freakin' cold. It is raining here but that's ok because I a own a new, rocking red rain coat.

Morning all!
Down .6 from yesterday. Had a good session with my nutrition counselor. All seems to be on track. I enjoyed discussing my off plan eating during the Xmas - New Year's week. I had such a different outlook this year - one more of observation and understanding and acceptance. She is pleased that I have returned to the "Devon Diet", as she put it. The way of eating I have designed for myself that I am seemingly able to live with for the long haul. We are maintaining a monthly appointment for now.
Diane, interesting quote. I'm still pondering it. I get it, but it's making me think that there are more levels to consider. I did immediately think about my latest exercise intention: doing the 5 pull ups.
Had a few internal conversations yesterday, too, about my cutting calorie thinking. That idea of cutting calories really reminded me of how deeply rooted my fear of being fat and dieting and my fear of failing is. Glad I was able to think it through and be okay with what I'm doing.
Enjoyed shopping at Whole Foods yesterday. Made myself a treat of almonds, peanuts, raisins and coconut chips. I ate about 50 calories worth and saved the rest. I like coconut chips. Who knew? Well, stands to reason, I sort of love Mounds and Almond Joy. LOL! Love the tangerines right, now, too. Also found some mini apples of some variety I have not yet tried, so I bought a few of those, as well. A little Paleo Carrot Salad and a few bottles (on sale) of Everybody hand soap for the kitchen rounded out my shopping spree.
Question: Do any of you use the strategy of over packing food for work? I am finding that having almost too much food and choices is very helpful in keeping my eating in check and allowing me to choose what I want to eat when I'm hungry away from the house. I've noticed, too, that by having choices, I seem to eat less than I did when I didn't do this. Was curious if any of you had the same experience.
I don't over pack my lunch bag with options most days, but I do keep a supply of things like the 100 calorie almond/walnut snack bags, .5 oz containers of sunflower seeds, Quest bars, EAS Carb Advantage protein drinks, turkey jerky in my office and car, for substitutions or needs that arise. Sometimes I feel like one of those things rather than what I packed. On weekends, errands can take longer than I anticipated and I need to have options in the car.
I'm liking the increase in healthy options at highway rest areas and smaller grocery stores too, but Murphy's law... if there isn't a back-up in the car... there won't be healthy options wherever I stop !
Nice job puzzling through some major issues !!

Hmm, I think I will eat whatever is available in my lunch bag. So, even tho I think satiety improves with a variety of flavors, I never bring extra.
I have looked at the coconut chips in Whole Foods but couldn't decide if it was worth the cabinet space. But, I do love mounds and almond joy as well and thought exactly that as I was looking at them. I am sure I will eventually pick some up.

The Whole Foods here have a Trail Mix Bar. I made up a 3 oz cup of peanuts, almonds, raisins, and the coconut chips. I figure that way, I also don't have the temptation in the house. For me it's a little healthy, but calorie dense, treat that once finished doesn't trigger cravings. I don't know if I would find the coconut chips a "walk by food" as I call them. Almonds are, so I have chosen not to keep them in the house right now.
G'day all. I'm holding at 115 but 114 winked at me. I'm at work today - very slow so of course in thinking about food! Boredom is not my friend.
Packing extra food has the opposite effect on me - I eat everything. But I do keep prepackaged snacks on hand in my car and purse for food 'emergencies' haha. Not sure what would constitute an emergency, but it makes me feel better to know something is available if needed. Y'all know what I mean.
Stay the course!
