Sunday, January 10th
Scale at 125.8 this morning. Still going down! Carbs a bit higher yesterday and calories just a smidge over my 1,200 goal.
Had yummy sushi for lunch with my oldest son after we got him a conch ear piercing (Christmas gift) and then off to the movie with my husband - we saw Joy. Another Costco run yesterday as well- they have awesome salmon for 5.99/lb. Also picked up peanuts for snacking - they have the highest protein content as far as nuts go.
Plan for exercise today is boot camp and yoga - I think my muscles have finally recovered enough from Thursday's workout to do it again. Tomorrow night we are going to a trampoline park with the boy scouts. It will be so nice to participate in the physical activities again instead of just taking pictures of everyone else having the fun. I've missed so much zip lining, kayaking, mountain biking, etc. over the years due to my obesity.
Have a wonderful Sunday friends!

Good rainy morning ! I've postponed the carpet steam cleaning. It is windy, in the 40's and pouring. That means I have a yellow lab and lots of mud. Really no sense in cleaning carpets until the ground freezes.
I loved my YMCA ! They have all sorts of classes and challenges in addition to a six lane lap pool with fabulously convenient times. I joined on the spot, and swam a mile yesterday and again today.
Kairk...your workout sounded grueling ! I am impressed with the things all of us are doing to push beyond what we once perceived as limits.
I'm down to 142.2. Eager to see 135. Have a great day everyone !

Your Y sounds terrific! They offer so much and it is such a positive, supportive community. Eventually, I will likely end up back at my local one as well.
I went back thru some of your old posts (could you feel me rifling thru your memory?) to look at your maintenance range evolution. So interesting to walk this path! In your mind's eye, do you have where you want to be generally floating within that range? Do you have a thought process of what happens, when?
In my life, I am ok with living in the grey zone and shy away from absolute rules. (Frankly, not adhering to rules is one reason I could end up so heavy so I am not advocating that thinking, by the way. But, it IS my natural inclination so I need to incorporate it.)
I am thinking that generally if I am in the top third-ish of my zone, I will be even more mindful of the amount of carbs and the quality of carbs and (of course) calories. When in the bottom third I might be more likely to enjoy something that I typically pass up.
One thing I do know for sure (no grey!) is that I have to stay mindful every, single day, even if it isn't pretty to observe. The past results of turning into an ostrich are a powerful reminder of why I can't stick my head in the sand.
Suddenly, this feels cathartic. Thanks for being here!

Thanks for asking. We all have lots of topics we could talk about forever to the only other people in the world who care/truly understand.
I entered the "maintenance zone" after meeting by surgeon's goal of 155 and my PCP telling me 150 was the absolute lowest she wanted me to go. I knew I wanted a healthy BMI, but also wanted to slowdown the weight loss, as I was still losing 2 pounds a week at 650-700 calories a day. So, two weeks before Christmas, I began to increase calories AT 149, which I'd established as my upper red line. Never a good idea to set that line the second you are under it, two weeks before Christmas. I got to 1000 calories a day, in increments of 100, but that week before Christmas, some of those calories were sugar and carbs I hadn't had in 6+ months. I gained 3 pounds before I reset the day after Christmas.
Right after that, I had a NUT visit, at which time I was told 145 was the absolute lowest they wanted me. I knew I wanted to shift my red line down to 145. There is no way I'm stepping outside of a healthy BMI again. I reset my target range to 136-141, as I really believe a five pound range will work for me. I made 135 my lower red line to "placate" members of my team all freaked out that I didn't have a bottom number identified.
So I'm 142 today. I still intend to stay in weight loss mode until I reach my lower red line. I want to experience finding my maintenance sweet spot from there, rather that just inside my upper red line this time. I am flexible about some 850-950 calorie days while I'm doing that. What I still need to figure out, is what those four pounds between my target range and my upper red number are doing there. I'm thinking I'll adjust my red line down, or my target range up at some point, but I know myself, and that much wiggle room is not tight enough for me.
What are you thinking about your numbers ?

It is sort of annoying to have to placate team members tho I know they mean well. My annoyance goes up 10 fold when the person doesn't have much bariatric experience and has nothing medical to back up her opinion. Also, on an irrational note, annoyance goes up 100 fold when the person is willowy thin. And honestly, it is just the ONE person on my team that was annoying so I should give it up!
The Dexa lady either said 121-128 or 122-128 as a range. I'm not sure that she put that in the paperwork and in hindsight that was more opinion rather than numbers from the software. Now that I think about putting it into numbers, my idea of thirds doesn't work very well, there just aren't enough numbers! I KNOW I don't want to hang out at 121 because that would me that I might go lower and I have no desire to do that. My calories are still low enough that I think that I will float down a small bit over a long period of time.
So, maybe I have a broader playground (per Linda's analogy) at 121-124.9 and progressively tighten up above 125. I will likely change my mind a million times!

Diane, you may have mentioned this before and I have forgotten, but I am curious, why did you decide to slow your weight loss intentionally before you got to the goal you wanted to achieve?
I ask because, with all sincerity, if I could at 4 years out eat 600-800 calories a day and manage, I'd be doing it. (I know for even some small women trying to manage 1200 calories a day is hard several years out.) I remember having to really work to get the last 10 pounds off (it took me almost 2 months) and I had to actually tighten up, not relax. So, your method is piquing my curiosity. Do you feel it's working the way you had hoped?
Basically, I jumped the gun. I am much happier with my adjusted plan to continue resumed weight loss mode until I reach my bottom red line.
