Good morning!

I finally weighed myself this morning, as my constipation issue is finally starting to resolve itself.  I was down 3 lbs. since the last time I weighed myself a couple of weeks ago.  Phew!

Shel, thanks for the kind words about my dancing!  This year will be my 5th recital.  I'm almost 61, but not the oldest in the class, though close to it.  I went to my two daughters' first recital a couple of months before I had WLS.  After noting that there were women my age in the adult class, I secretly promised myself that I'd be on stage with them the next year.  I started the adult tap and jazz class 3 weeks to the day after my surgery.  I realized immediately that tap wasn't for me - a wise decision considering my knee continued to get worse, needing replacement surgery.  But I've stuck with the jazz.  I'm not very good, but I love it!  For me, it's one of my primary motivators for staying on course.  I danced as a kid, but quit at 14 as it wasn't cool back then, and always regretted it.  I never, in a million years thought I'd ever dance on stage again, but here I am, with my class just about to start learning our routine for this year's recital in May.

Sounds like everyone is doing well and moving forward in this journey.

Have a great day!

Mary

Mary that is so awesome that you are dancing again. Sounds like a lot of fun and great way to keep your body moving. Good for you. Have fun preparing for your recital.

Thanks Lorna!  It is fun.  The last class for jazz was on 12/1, due to the holidays and the teacher doing tap only for a couple of the classes, and I really miss it.  We go back next week, and I can't wait!

Good morning to my marvelous maintenance friends!  I'm sitting here drinking my first coffee of the day after sleeping late. Love my first coffee!! A small but incredibly meaningful pleasure.

I got the one pound bump up to 115 that I was expecting, which I think may reflect my 'true' weight with some normal poop in me  (Gawd I never tire of being able to talk about the mundane here and feel like I'm heard).

I've been able to tighten up my calories a little more and am successfully detoxing from sugar, so that's success.  Again I have to say how grateful I am to have such a minuscule amount of weight to worry about during the first week of January.

Down another .5 this morning. Makes me happy!

Sugar seems to be out of my system, carbs are in order, so all is well. I'm still somewhat awed by how easy it is to get back on track now that I understand how my system seems to work on and off a higher level of sugar carbs. Knowing what my body needs to detox and reset is priceless. I basically got through the last 4 days without a single real craving, although Tuesday I did have a lot of unwarranted hunger.

No exercise this week. Simply, too damn busy. First week back after break is hectic! Going to try tonight after my haircut. Have to go to Costco, too. I'm out of major staples - almond milk, Fage, and coffee and whipping cream. (yes, whipping cream is a staple! LOL) If I get to the gym, great. If not, I have a training session tomorrow and will make an effort to get back in the swing next week.

Enjoy the Dexa Scan conversation. I was very interested in my body fat % when I first lost weight. Now, not so much. I'm just going by labs and how I feel and look.

Lucky Me. I get to sleep in and when I have my morning coffee I get to read all the comments from you early birds.  I too love my morning coffee. Can't face the day without it.  Hubby gets up early and doesn't understand why I don't function without it.

Stayed up kind of late watching new episodes of "my 600 lb life"  and the new one about removing loose skin called "skin tight " or something like that.  Don't know why I find this stuff interesting still but I do.   I am a bariatric busy body.  Guess I just like to see people win their struggle.

Yesterday my friend kidnapped me and we went out the the jetty to look at big ocean waves. So beautiful. There were a few hardy surfers out. Fun to watch.  We just drove up on a dune and didn't even have to get out of the truck.

Carbon I don't know how you do all the walking.  My hat is off to you and all you others who exercise so much. I should probably throw away my computer, iPad, and tv.  Fat Chance! Will get my exercise today walking around costco.   diane

I too watched "My 600 lb. Life".  I think, for me watching it reminds me of the despair I felt before surgery, as well as how lucky I was to have done something about it before it got worse and to the point the people in the show got to.  I find it re-energizes me to keep moving forwad.  This is off topic:  I wanted to watch the program at 9, but my daughter came home and said one of her friends who had moved away 3 or 4 years ago, was auditioning on American Idol, either on last night or tonight's show, so we switched gears.  I guess she'll be on tonight.  I never watch that show, but am doing so as I know this girl.  If you catch it, her name is Pillar.  I remember her having a beautiful voice.
