morning thoughtful fellow journyiers. ( not sure that is a word )

wow.  A lot to think about.

scale the same here.  Calories 1123.  Virtually no walking.

had a frustrating talk with a RNY success and she feels that once she got her head around the fact that her childhood was fraught with parental toxicity, she was able to 'see ' more clearly.

It was frustrating in a sense because yes, there is more than enough proof that family cir****tances certainly colour our behaviour ( has any one read  In The Realm Of Hungry Ghosts by Gabor Mate ), but  when do we, as individuals, say:  "   Self, YOU are the one eating 9 pieces of cake."  I don't know.  Any thoughts.?  ( am just starting to ponder the OA book so perhaps there is insight within the pages )

first set of company left late last night, second group arrive today.  It has been fun except for the cooking part.  No problems with breakfast but cannot serve eggs and toast x3.

Happy Thursday.

Good Morning-

Carbonated... you sure don't get much of a break in the action !  I'll be thinking about you !

We are all working to understand and integrate some pretty big issues.  I always found OA daily meditations to be extremely helpful.  They often focused my thinking in manageable, affirmational steps.  I just ordered Food for Thought from Amazon.

"Food for Thought offers wise and comforting words for compulsive overeaters who seek to understand the role of food in their lives. Each day's reading in the best-selling classic--the first Hazelden meditation book to address the needs of overeaters--supports a life of physical, emotional, and spiritual balance."

I am up a pound today...still at 1000 calories, for absolutely no reason.  Today is the office catered luncheon, and I'm hearing the voice that says, "You might as well taste the dessert if you gain a pound being totally on plan, it might as well be worth it !"  Rationally, I know it is "just a pound", and it will come right back down because I have been making healthy choices.

Physical, emotional and spiritual balance ....

Up to 115 again. Scale seems to want to stay right around that number again. Not my preferred 112 but I'm happy with it.

Was looking back at some old pre-op photos this morning. Remembered how I felt and what life was like. I'm feeling a lot of gratitude today.

hi all, 128 so thats reassuring.

Good to hear all the suggestions about thoughtful books to read.  But I sometimes find if I read books about eating issues I just want to eat.  What I need is a book called "900 Fun Things to Do That Won't Make  You Think About Eating".

Well Carbon, tell your guests to go pick up some take out food. Preferably healthy.  The problem with guests is all the easy dinners are stuff like pasta and pizza.   takes work to cook healthy.

I remember going to a support group once where the people all took turns reading passages from the OA bible.  It was so dismal. and half the people there had lap bands but you couldn't tell because they were still MO.    But I guess some find it valuable.

Gonna go play with puppies today.  No I am not getting one and I am sure they are all spoken for anyway but fun to go play with them.  Plus its raining and dismal here. diane

Hi All!  I came home from work this morning, as I have the creeping crud my girls have had.  I've been resting mostly, but did get some Christmas presents wrapped.

The scale was the same this morning.  Food has been ok, but I am still eating mindlessly at times.  Not lots of food, but the issue is popping something into my mouth without thinking it through and making to a deliberate choice.

I like the "Food for Thought" book too.  I also have gotten some things from Geneen Roth's books about breaking free from compulsive eating, though I don't necessarily agree with all of what she's written.  They also give me some food for thought.

Have a great day everybody!

Scale down to 127.4 today. I clothes shopped all day today. My skinny clothes are too big so I had to go get super skinny clothes. Just hit 10,000 steps on my Fitibit so that tells ya how much walking/shopping I did! Skipped lunch all together as I was out and about so I squeezed a protein hot cocoa in when I got home. Calories are going be way low today but Hubby and I are eating at Red Lobster tomorrow night and I am sure I will make up my calorie deficit there (mmmmm cheddar bay biscuit!)

I'm not sure all the steps were good for my legs though. The right leg is pretty swollen, so tomorrow I really will have to take it easy. Tonight we have another Christmas concert. I work all weekend, so no rest for the wicked then!

Hello all,

No change in the scale today.  I am a stair step loser and I imagine that will be exaggerated here at the end?  No worries.  I got my zen on thanks to some excellent yoga practices this week.

Also, for some reason, my triggered feeling went away even tho I am still here at home on vacation.  Wish I could figure out exactly how to make it switch off at will.  I would be thin AND rich!  I know yoga helps but it doesn't seem like that could be the entire answer.

Enjoy the season!  Shel
