Happy Friday!
Busy day, today: final house clean on this final vacation day. Then hopefully a yoga class, then shopping, then kid errand (violin) then the Nutcracker (the professional version, not my kiddos version.)
Weight is down 1.5 to 128. Lets pause to remember that my shiny new (and subject to change) goal is 125.
Quick comment about family and how those developmental years affected us years out. I felt I had a bit of a breakthru moment in my brain recently when my mom recently said that fat people want to stay fat because they like all the attention they get. She was referring to my cousins on my dad's side of the family (hello genetics) but I have to think she thought that about me, too.
I opened my mouth to defend myself and then snapped it shut with an audible click. Really, who cares. It is a complicated issue that isn't well understood by science, either. She hasn't personally experienced weight issues and has no empathy.
If anything, I wish that she would acknowledge that I have truly tried over the years but I was surprised to find that I am (for the moment) done with looking for that approval. I find her opinions on weight/obesity to be outmoded but I don't feel the need to try to change them. I don't have all the answers either. It was very nice to shift my reaction to her opinion from shame to amusement.
That wasn't so quick. Thanks for the counseling session.

Happy Friday to you too Shel (and everyone else!). Scale at 126.6 today, a new low, but remember that my calories and fluid intake were low yesterday (only 647 calories and about 42 oz. of fluid) so that is a big reason why.
I grew up in an obese family, even all of my grandparents were obese and obesity wasn't so much of an epidemic way back then - I come from a line of chefs/restaurant owners on my Dad's side - food was their livelihood. My family did use food to express love and soothe hurts but I in no way blame my family for my obesity. There is a huge genetic component to obesity - both physical and psychological. I don't think I had a chance to beat obesity without WLS and there are still parts of me that are not convinced that this will work long-term, I mean nothing else ever did but I at least feel like I have a fighting chance now!
Have a few errands to run today but otherwise plan to give my legs a rest. Red Lobster date with hubby tonight - looking forward to it.

Morning all and welcome Thinner!!!
well said Shel!. Family dynamics always so interesting.
Scale not budging but then neither am I. Have not walked any distance for two days. Not unless you count the distance between the fridge and stove and washing machine.
Today is a Christmas breakfast with our walking group and then a luncheon with dear dear friends. My wonderful house guests are going to fend for themselves as they are visiting their family and relations.
lunch will be easy, with salad ( hold the dressing ) breaky a bit more difficult.... I see boiled eggs in my future.
enjoy this Friday. The children have started counting the sleeps.
Good Mornng...I purposely didn't weigh this morning because I knew it would be ugly! I'm on it today with lots of water and have decided to do protein shakes today to get my head together. I'm working out with my trainer this morning, cut and color this afternoon and wedding this evening. Tomr we have our family Christmas with Andy's family. I'm bringing a huge salad and plan to not indulge there except for a small piece of my sister-n-law's homemade peanut butter sheet cake.
Happy Friday!!!
That sounds like a great day you have planned! I had a cut/color this week, too. I went into panic mode because my usual colorist was out sick and had to cancel the morning of. I was so immensely grateful that someone else had an opening.

hi all. 128 . spent yesterday afternoon playing with an adorable litter of 5 little border terrier puppies. So fun. My friend is a breeder (where I got my dog) so she lets us come help socialize the pups.
Today is gallery duty and its raining like heck so it will be slow. maybe i will play music and go in the backroom and dance. After gallery its off for a haircut and then hubby's choir concert.
we have good friends *****cently lost a big part of their roof in a storm. its continued to rain a lot and while the roof has tarp now , it still leaks and is a major bummer for them. We exchange christmas gifts and i wanted to do something nice for them so decided on a gift cert to a nice restaurant. why is food always the comfort go-to item? Yet I can't think of much else that would ease their discomfort.
Funny how holidays bring out all the family bats in the belfry. diane
So jealous that you get to play with puppies, many puppies!
I am intrigued by your back room dancing...any particular style of dancing?
