Hi All! Good for you Diane! I'd love to retire as well, but can't for quite some time. Deciding to adopt 2 children later in life will keep me from retiring for some time, but I wouldn't trade them in for anything. I will, however, live vicariously through you and the others who are fully or semi-retired on this board! :)
Paula, glad your legs are improving. I think you're very wise to move slowly in maintenance. For me, I think I forged ahead too fast and then got complacent, ending up gaining. I hope to get back to goal and then take things slowly.
Carbon, I'm sure it's the salt! You have not eaten enough to gain 4 lbs. My guess is that once the excess salt is flushed out of your system, the scale will reflect that.
For me, the scale was the same this morning. I'm struggling a bit today, haven eaten most of my calories already, and it's only past lunchtime. I need to step back and figure out why.
I am so glad it's Friday! My little one is spending the night at a friend's house, so hubby and I plan to go to a movie or Christmas shopping. It will be nice to spend time with just him.
Have a great rest of Friday!
Mary
I'm joining the party here. Up a pound to 114 for no reason in sight. Interesting how that impacts each and every one of us the same way, isn't it! Nevertheless, I know I'm on plan and have been consistently for quite some time, so it's just the lack of the moon's gravitational pull or something. But still, all the crazy thoughts are going through my head.
Went on another search for Christmas tree lights yesterday and learned that virtually all the major sellers have had their lights recalled this year! I managed so score some good ones, though, despite the dozens of people grumbling around me about what they couldn't buy anywhere :0. So lights are on the tree and they great!
Feeling a little 'hungry' today, likely due to low level boredom. Yup, waiting around like my cat does for the timed food dish to turn again. Sad, isn't it?

Diane,a suggestion for your consideration, but by no means is this meant to tell you how to do this! You do what you think is best, but at the rate you're dropping, you might want to consider increasing by a few more calories right away. I can appreciate you wanting to go slowly, but the extra calories shouldn't tip the scale in any negative way. Can't remember what you said you hoped your final weight to be, but most people maintaining at 130 pounds or higher would need at least 1200 calories daily to maintain at that level. You may need many more than that. It's not hard to add calories with high calorie fats. For example, a nice chunk of brie cheese would give you a couple hundred calories with no added volume. But if you're content with your weight continuing to fall quite a bit, there's no reason to go any faster than you are right now. I know I was happy with the continued fall and I don't regret it one bit.

Scale up. Scale down. Scale up....it is frustrating. Two parties yesterday...I did okay for the most part but stress ate two donuts. Moving on...
Hard workout today...back on track. I need to run some errands today and then going to an art sale.
Everyone hang in there...the scale does not define us!!!!
Enjoy your weekend!
Hi all
Ocean Diane, go ahead and increase the calories slowly. you may drop a little more weight than you planed but it will turn around. Did for me - I was down to 117 and now am at 127. I reversed the trend by eating big blobs of peanut butter. Now I have to avoid the stuff due to weight gain. You might drink 1% milk or have some nuts to up calories. Don't resort to sugary stuff. And congrats on retirement plans. You are gonna love it.
Everyone else seems to be dealing with the holiday monsters. Why do holidays and social events have to be so much about food? we are having a party at our art gallery sunday. I am going to bring my cinnamon almonds and also some plain old cut up veggies. I believe there should be a healthy choice at such events. I quit working at our other gallery monthly openings because the food was always crackers, dip, bread with brie and such. couldn't stop eating the junk.
Lets try to replace the "oh hell, might as well eat" monster with the angel of "Oh hell, might as well keep healthy". Whats that Rolling Stones song "you can't always get what you want but if you try sometimes you just might find you get what you need".
Raining here, Some kind of germs are delaying the crab fishing season. Phooey. Love some good old crab this time of year.
