Hello All !

Carbon- thanks for making me feel so included.  I went to OA for almost two years before I even considered VSG... back when I thought I could just "muscle through it", lose the weight, and keep it off.  Everyone's definition of abstinence was so different, and there was no middle ground or willingness to respect each individual's perspective.  I did find step work very helpful, and ended up attending an open AA meeting for about a year.  I was very open about the fact that my addiction was food and that I wanted to work the steps and integrate the learning filtered by my addiction.  The 12 Steps and 12 Traditions all use the same basic "template" for CODA, NA, AA, OH... just key words are changed/modified.  I found my OA/AA experience to be very beneficial in getting my head in the right place.  I do revisit it from time to time.

I am down another .5, but I did swim a mile last night, and don't eat my exercise calories. I have added a 100 calorie walnut/almond snack pack and 1/4 c. avocado in for tomorrow, pushing me right against 900 calories. I am at 148, and the range I'm working into is 141-147, so taking the addition of calories slow can get me to the lower end of that range.  A little cushion on the bottom end wouldn't hurt. My plan is to add another 100/day on Tuesday if I have lost more than 1.5 pounds in a week.  Otherwise, I'll hang at 900 calories for another wee****il I shift to 1000.

Because I had lost so much by my 6 month check-in, the nutritionist is seeing me monthly to make sure I can slow this train down. I've lost seven pounds so far since 11/24, but I am adding calories back in.

Welcome to our maintenance group! I hope you find lots of help and support here. I know sure have. It's a place where you can lay things out and get great ideas from those who are successfully treading the path.

For what it's worth, when I transitioned into maintenance, I went straight from 600 calories to 1000 calories.  Then I added another 100 calories each time I lost another pound or more.  Basically stopped losing when I reached 1500 calories. During that period of time I dropped from 125 to 115 and I continue to maintain at/under 115 while eating 1500 calories.
