morning all.
up, up ,up a pound today and deserve every ounce. Went a little wild with brownies in the am, caught myself, brushed my teeth and stopped, however, ate a large portion of kimchi way to late last evening and can feel the salt behind my eyes and in my hands.
the good news for yesterday is that walked the 5 miles, in the freezing cold and one would have thought that the shivering would have shed an ounce/ gram or two.
looking back at my calorie charts which have been keeping for past three weeks they range 987-1356. The only carbs have been veggie carbs ie broccoli, peppers etc. No bread because once that starts there is no end.
am on 1/2 a tablet of the lowest dose of an anxiety Meds. I want to get off of them so will cut that 1/2 into another half for 6 milligrams. Apparently at much higher doses this stuff causes weight gain.. Could it be????
Also eating waaaaay too late is a habit I really would like to stop. But obviously have not. I think that having glass of water would do the trick , and I do know that that works, but oh!!! Changing ingrained patterns is hard.
thanks for letting me lean on you. Yesterday was a wobble for sure.
Good morning my friends. Happy Saturday to all of you as you prepare for Thanksgiving celebrations with family friends and food. Not sure which day it is exactly? We e already been there and done that here in Canada.
Still at 117. I had a solid day yesterday, even passed on popcorn. Didn't have a single nibble. Kairk, I'm reflecting on what you said recently about how much longer it takes to get poundage off now. So so true. Which for me it means I have to stop mindlessly f$$@ing around or be willing to pay the price.
Carbon those meds can be killer on your scale. I've been there and can truthfully say it's a super delicate balance. Steph I hope you're still resting!
Mao glad all of you are here because it can get very lonely trying o do this alone. And Diane I really appreciate the perspective you provide about 'the struggle' - a couple pounds or a couple hundred calories? We've come a long way Baby!

Good morning and happy Saturday! After trimming dogs today I'm going to meet an old college chum that I haven't seen since graduation in January 1987. Ought to be a hoot. She wants to discuss changing careers and spending her last years working as a teacher - as she put it, "Doing something that has purpose and meaning." I'll tell her my truth anyhow! And my truth is far better than what a lot of people in the profession hold as truth.
Had a great workout yesterday and made the plunge and joined the new "Grunt" gym my trainer has moved to. Sort of a scary move, but it's far less expensive and just as convenient to home. But, I have to say, it's a bit intimidating. Trainer mentioned he's impressed that I look slimmer each week when we meet. Encouraging.
Scale held steady. Solid food day, but I did have a bit of extra peanut butter last night as I was out of almonds and had the evening munchies.
So, here is my thought on late night eating: There is absolutely nothing wrong with it AS LONG AS YOU REMAIN WITHIN YOUR CALORIE RANGE FOR THE DAY. I have always been a late night eater. ALWAYS! (Well, since young adulthood...) I have my evening yogurt around 10:30 each evening which is about an hour before going to bed. I have lost 23 pounds in the past 3 months doing this. In my 20s I worked nights in a restaurant and ate dinner between 10:30 and midnight 4-5 days per week. I managed to lose weight back then eating at that time, too. Sure, maybe you might lose a little faster if you don't go to bed with a bit in your tummy, but really, it's about the calories and the quality of the calories you eat that count in the end. Of course, my opinion only and not backed up with a shred of scientific evidence!
Food choices have consequences. Some positive, some negative. Not everyone reacts the same to every food. We need to find the balance and what works. Clearly, none of us are spring chickens and I think that has impact on the consequences. I had access to doughnuts all day long yesterday. They sat in my classroom from morning until dismissal and then the little girl who brought them forgot to take the left overs home. I was left with two old fashioned glazed - my favorite. I found people to give them to, but one person left a half. Yes, I wanted the half. I really thought about how it would affect my day. I divided it into 4 pieces. I kept one and chucked the others in the trash before eating my 1/8th. I ate my bit in two bites and realized that I don't really like doughnuts and walked away. I ate it slowly and really tasted it. Doughnuts must be made to eat quickly, because it was not enjoyable to savor it at all. I could taste the fat and grease and it was just kind of gross. Anyway..... short story long..... the doughnut was a choice with the possible consequence of triggering cravings. I weighed the pros and cons and decided that a little taste would be worth it and logged it and counted the calories and carbs. It's when I make impulsive choices that I run into trouble.
