Morning everyone.

wishing us all well in dealing with difficult situations.  They are so tough.  One of 'my difficult situations ' just found employment in another community and will be moving there.  With all my heart I wish them abundant success.

An excellent food day and met my walking goal, scale finally down .5.

Have taken your comments to heart Kairk and REALLY counted every morsel and wow!! Was 145 cals over.  However, and confession is good for the soul right, found that was putting glug, glug, glug of the sugar free stuff that you put in coffee, not just a single glug.  Also caught myself drinking right out of the bottle, more glugs.  Too much of that stuff cannot be good.

Another day to learn!

Happy Friday everyone!

Busy! Busy! day yesterday....and didn't get to post!  It was my 50th Birthday yesterday!  I really had already celebrated this summer with a trip to New York.  However, I was spoiled rotten yesterday!!!  My classroom was filled with balloons, black streamers on my door and gifts!  Some were old fart gifts...funny!  Roses from my husband and cupcakes from friends.  Yes, I ate cupcakes!!!!  It's was a fabulous day!!!

We took our students to a high school production of Peter Pan and then had an honor roll party.  Perfect day for my birthday!!!

Today, I'm working at our academic bowl...we are hosting 16 schools this weekend.

Tomr., I'm spending the day with my parents.

50 has been fun so far!!!!

Anyone on Facebook?  It might be fun to add friends.  What do you think?

Facebook? Sure! Devon Allen.

And Happy 50th!!!! Do you feel a little bit like, "How did I get this old?" I still am amazed by the fact that I'm 51. I often am amazed That the 80s were so long ago. Hell, we're coming up on the freaking 40th anniversary of the movie GREASE! How in the F did that happen????? I don't feel much different than I remember feeling at 30 - except more confident and comfortable in my skin. Youth truly is wasted on the young! LOL!

I understand all to well about the coffee creamer.  I have a measuring spoon on my coffee bar I now use because I was pouring too many glugs!!!  That's a fun word.

Holding at 115 still. Surprised at how long it's taking to drop a pound but I must be patient. No I don't like dieting. You and me both, right?

Off to my part time job for a few hours. I gave up my 'real' career several years ago, then transitioned to a second one, which I wrapped up in September. Now working at a high end wine store just 18 hours a week. It gives me an excuse to get dressed up and it's fun to be there.

I'd love to do the Facebook thing!  Search me by Linda Spencer Calgary Alberta. Pic is an 'action shot' of me on my motorcycle.

Scale down some more this morning.

Ah, Carbon, I think you write about something we are all susceptible to - the mindless (or maybe not so mindless) extra bites. I call it "walk by/through eating". You know, I walk through the kitchen and take a few almonds or a spoon of PB, or.... This behavior has been a nemesis of mine for years - especially after school! I have developed two strategies to help me through the afternoons.

  1. Plan a filling afternoon/meal snack ahead of time. I plan it on the way home so it meets my "appetite" for the day. For example the other day it was a hard boiled egg with silly salt and a 1/4 oz of almonds. Believe it or not, that's filling for me. Sometimes I have a sweet tooth and have a Quest Bar. However, I notice that the Quest Bars can be a bit triggery for me. I try to keep different options available and handy so I have some choices.
  2. I portion out "walk by" food. Sometimes when I know it's going to be a tough afternoon, I will portion out an ounce of almonds or beef jerky and leave in a dish on the kitchen counter. It doesn't stop the behavior, but at least I'm staying on plan. I have to face the fact that I will most likely never conquer my emotional need for grazing in the afternoons.

I have to laugh at "... caught myself drinking right out of the bottle..." Reminds me of me shooting whipped cream into my mouth from the aerosol can in the fridge! That is something I still have to fight.... STILL! (I bought an Isi whipping cream dispenser and I make my own whipped cream using the NO2 capsules and the dispenser. I use local organic cream and vanilla extract and just a bit of Truvia or Splend, if I'm out of Truvia. The whipped cream has become part of my ritualistic evening yogurt. All planned and okay by me!)

I've got dog shows this weekend - the last of the year....YAY! Up at 4:15 am tomorrow to show at 8:00 am. UGH.... I'm determined to not eat dog show food crap. This is the show that serves bacon and pancakes (pumpkin or regular) every year and they cook the bacon in the exhibition hall and the whole damn place reeks of bacon. Just kill me know!

Have a wonderful weekend all!

I have "walk by" food, too...I usually measure out nuts or cut up a quest bar.  I'm a total grazer and can't seem to break it.
