Was down 6.7 yesterday. Now, after 9 hours sitting in the car and some salty beef jerky and very salty restaurant tri tip and perhaps a carb sensitivity issues (more on that later) I'm back up 1.1. Poop. I had overall a very good food day considering it was a day of travel. I did eat fast food, but it was the healthiest fast food I could find (Taco Bell). I had a steak burrito with lettuce and some habanero sauce, guacamole and a little cheese. I ate almost half. So the tortilla was not high on my desired foods list, but....
Made it completely through the funeral and then the reception with only a fleeting glance at the food table. A quick perusal of the tables showed there was nothing I wanted to eat - everything was sweets except one bowl of mixed fruit, which is not a favorite.
We stopped at a roadside farm that has become a real tourist attraction with a little farm, ice cream and fudge shop, and pony rides for the kids. However, the produce is great. We bought some fruits, veggies and some organic canned goods. I can't wait to try the Habanero Pickle chunks!
Now it is time for True Confessions of a Sugar Junkie! We had dinner with friends at the Madonna Inn just outside of San Luis Obispo. They are famous for their Pink Champagne cake. Yes, I did. I had a few bites. However, I did make a conscious decision to do so. It was not impulsive. But guess what? I DID NOT LIKE IT! Yes, I had to take a few bites to make sure, but I really didn't like it. Yet, the sugar kind of triggered me so I had a chocolate curl from the other couple's Black Forest Cake. Once we were in the car on the way home, I realized I didn't feel well. I was having a reaction to the sugar. Duly noted.
I am wondering, too, if the water weight is due to inflammation from the sugar. I noticed when I went off the sugar within two days my ankles were not swelling in the evening. Last night they were swollen, but I'd been driving for 4.5 hours. Who knows. But I think I am honestly carb sensitive.
At least there is no feeling of the need to detox. I didn't crave sugar later in the evening either so I think I'm good to go.
Dr. C suggested that my goal be lose 20 by the end of October. That is now my goal. Focusing on the prize!
