Daily Maintenance Weigh-In, Tuesday, July 1, 2014

Up really early this morning...Catching up on summer projects (translate putting food up).  Hubby canned 28 quarts of green beans while I was away.  I put 6 quarts of snow peas in the freezer, canned 14 quarts of beans, and THEN the hubs schlepps in another 5 gallon bucket of the little green suckers that are waiting for me in the fridge today.  Needless to say, we are in the middle of a bumper crop-o-stuff at the moment.  I'm off to pick the June apple tree and will jar up sauce- at least it isn't green-beans!  Anyone know what to do with cabbage ?

Make sauerkraut - yummmo!   I know a lady who also makes jars and jars of kimchi with her cabbage, etc.

I knew yesterday's low weight was due to dehydration!  133.4 today

103.6.  Well, at least I'm not gaining.

Miss150, your veggie project sounds awesome!  I have a black thumb and am unable to grow anything, but obviously you and your hubs are green all over!  Have you read Barbara Kingsolver's "Animal, Vegetable, Miracle"?  It's non-fiction and she talks about a year her family spent eating food grown entirely in their yard.  For protein, they traded their veggies with farmers who raised chickens or cows.  Anyway, it was an interesting read if you ever get a chance to pick it up.

Have a good one, all!

I love sauerkraut!  Not so much the rest of the family-still have jars from a few years ago "decorating" my shelves.  It was super fun to make in an old crock- the kimchi sounds interesting....
