Bicycle-Maintenance Madness !!!
Whats your Maintenance Madness???
So..... the bicycle bug bit me, not in the Jubster or Mac way.
I have a 12 mile lap I do from my studio to Fisherman's Wharf and back. Mostly flat. Sometimes if it's nice out in the evening I'll do it a second time.
My record is 130 miles in 7 days..... not sustainable for me just from time constraints. 60-75 miles a week seems very repeatable for now.
I have also been enjoying building and customizing my own "one off" bikes...... maybe 10 of them in the works right now from rebuilding $50 craigslist bikes to a few full on customs.(all in the spirit of fitness....right?)
I keep a bike at my all my hang outs..... my moms, my brothers, my shop in Berkeley, my nephews in LA. I even bought a pretty cool folding bike to travel with..... I'm thinking of bringing it to Hawaii, Tokyo and Spain this year to keep my pedaling on !
How does this pertain to maintenance..... as many of you know already......exercise is the great equalizer...makes the balance point a bit wider and life is not quite so "knife edge".
Between, walking, treadmill, stairmaster, mall walking, motoX, skateboarding and now cycling keeps me in a fairly sustainable level of fitness that I never had before for any length of time..... again not Jub or Mac level or any of you "Super Athletes" !!!!

SWEET! Integrating fitness into your lifestyle is definitely the way to go. It becomes part of you, rather than a chore... the more you can weave it into the social fabric of your life, the more likely it is that you'll sustain it for a long time.
Did a 200km 'randonee' last Saturday, and have a 'Century' coming up this Saturday - sponsored by a brewery, so there's beer at the end... and taco trucks! Since I usually burn 4000-5000 calories on a century, I get to eat a taco...
I'll snap a pic later of my Cervelo 'race' bike - got it last fall, and getting it out of the shop today - ready for the season...

That's awesome, Frisco. I am lovin' on that bike and on the complete vibe that you -- and Tom -- put out there about enjoying exercise. I am still struggling with that and with excuses~excuses~excuses.
Here's one you can copy - instead of liquor, you could make it a cooler and carry your cafe frisco samples! WLS version of a "food truck" for support meetings!
