184

Back from 2 weeks in Europe... 184 - I'll take it after getting off the plane.

Don't let anyone fool you - portion sizes in Europe are plenty big.  Nancy and I usually split an main course - She'd order salad or soup, I'd order the main and we'd struggle to finish that - If we did the 3 course lunch deals, we could never finish them.  Even the salads she ordered were often too big for her to finish.

We did have a great time, the food was fine.  I ate bread, but have found that doesn't affect me that much as long as I'm walking a lot.  It was easiest for us to go to a store and get cheese, meat and bread and eat on our own while driving or in the hotel - rather than waste money on food that went uneaten.

Hey Jubs,

Was wondering when you would be back !

My weight is up and your partially to blame.....

I been riding my bike(s) a lot..... I did 130 miles in the last 7 days.

My thighs are bigger and I'm not really happy about it !

I thought for sure my weight was gonna go down a little with so much cardio???

Muscle and water???

Must be putting some meat on those legs!  Definitely water retention from muscle-building...    I'm excited to get back on my bike... I did a short ride in Saint-Emilion (near Bordeaux) while sampling Merlot... maybe 30km that day going from winery to winery.

Tested out my new Garmin VIRB on bike camera - nothing great video wise (my editing, not the camera!) but you get an idea of the locale: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e6MLwUwjV30

Great vid Tom..... you did good and that camera records really good, the exposure and clarity looked good !

Now you got me thinking how I can ride in Europe, I'm supposed to go to Spain twice this year and Tokyo maybe twice.

Not bad quality (full 1024 HD) for $499... controllable from iPhone or bike computer - records GPS location and connects to all bike sensors so you can overlay the display with all your sensor/GPS data - good for recording workouts.  Can also play back through sites like Kinomap where (if you record your power output) it will control a trainer and make you put out the same power...  So you can record a ride (or watch someone else's recording) and simulate the workout indoors in the winter...

Most good-sized cities (and even a lot of small ones) will have good bike-rentals OR a guided bike tour.  I usually check TripAdvisor.com for the guided tour.  That's how we found Christiane in Bordeaux.

My hubby has a massive zit on the end of his nose. Yeah, I called him Rudolph. :-)

My weight's not dropping fast. Big effing surprise. I started walking again which feels good. It's too windy to get on the bike.

Tom - I love your video. That was very cool.

Morning:

Welcome home.

Glad that you had a great time.

Down two pounds.  Whew.  Still 10 above goal.  Continuing to watch and walk.

Welcome back, sounds like you had a wonderful time.

148.5 - definitely a happy number I haven't seen in ages.

The extra focus and caution to stay on track yesterday worked well, but I ended up way under for calories again, so today probably needs the same caution and focus.  Got my workout in this morning, and a plan to avoid the catered food at my lunch meeting.
