5pm here - just heading out for a walk - got my workouts in at the hotel, but now I want to walk!  I love London and Paris especially for the walkability...  and the coffee shops!

For endurance food, check out "Feedzone Portables" on amazon.  Great recipes you can make at home for endurance athlete type food.  Lots of Sushi rice in use.  But then you can control what you're getting and the freshness.  I always carry gels on the bike, but end up not eating them because they seem so nasty to me.  I've made some of this stuff and tested it on long indoor rides and it seems compatible with my stomach...

Yes Tom I remember you posting about some of the recipes you've tried.  I'll definitely take a look.  In the past, I've stuck with gels because they go down fast.  I haven't been coordinated enough to eat while I'm running or walking ;)  but I'd much prefer to eat something more natural than those yucky gels.  Just curious - do you use caffeine to enhance performance?  I always drink a coffee prior, and use gels that contain caffeine.

I'm doing my first ever 5k next month.  I've gotta get my groove on.  I'm walking due to past knee injuries and have been advised not to run.  Darn it...lol

Proud of you!!!!

Steph that's so awesome!  I hope you love it.  I was a very passionate runner prior to my last regain, so found that I had a very schizophrenic view of myself as a 'runner who didn't run' when I got heavy again.  I'm glad to have the congruence back, but I have to be very careful about my food.  I overate while running and it was a bit contributor to my regain, so I'm wiser now and won't make that mistake again.

That's exciting!  I'm always so impressed with WL patients who end up as runners or bike racers or other intense exercisers.

140.2

Sitting here after work drinking a protein shake.  I have been trying to stick with fruit and veggies for my snacks, but I think I need to go back to a protein based snack as I am TOO HUNGRY.  I think I need that little bit of protein pretty often.  the fruit and veggies fill me up but they sure don't stick.

no clue what i weigh. was traveling today. ate spring rolls from trader joes and some evil dark choc almonds. oh well, back to reality tomorrow. the good news is i was able to eat a small part of the package of almonds and then put them away. my former self could never have done that.  diane
