meeting with social workers today to get my parents (or at least my mom) into assisted living... 20 years of parkinson's drugs have taken their toll on her brain - she's now actively hallucinating much of the time. The upside is that she tells my brother that she just saw me (even though I've been traveling for weeks) so I'm getting credit for being a good son and visiting often, even though I haven't :)

Sorry to hear about your mother, Tom. It's tough. I hope you come to a good plan for her. My mother is the opposite re memory. Her short-term is just about gone at age 83.83, and she doesn't remember things like seeing my brother or my father during the travail of my father's heart surgery and subsequent rehab.

Nor'easter. Switching among snow/sleet/rain since last night, to continue throughout the day into sometime early tomorrow morning. If we're lucky we'll get less than a foot of new snow. If we're really lucky we won't lose power. Something tells me I'm going to have to reschedule tomorrow's 7:15am lab appointment. Ah, well, shoveling looks so good on my MFP exercise log. :)
Husband's work closed for today, which tells you it's really bad out there. He's down in the basement doing something with his lathe which is stinking up the house, but at least he's occupied with something.
Thanks - I think it will go well. I know when my MIL moved into assisted living, she said "Why didn't I do this 10 years ago?!?!" She loved the increased social contact - rather than sitting at home in front of the TV, alone.... I think my folks will as well.

sorry for your issues with your mom. my mom also has parkinsens and now lives in a retirement appartment with a roomate and 24 hour assistance. its a very good thing but it was really hard to get her to leave her home 6 years ago which has a zillion steps and non friendly bathrooms. my mom does not hallucinate but does have memory problems and dementia. sure hope you can get something good accomplished. diane
