181.8
Back to home base the past couple of days so diet control was easier, and less temptation due to high-calorie foods sitting around for biking needs.
Last week in Palm Springs I biked 411 miles...
My body seems to like the 182-184 range and is resisting moving much in either direction. I'd really like to get back to the low 170s for the serious cycling season... which is probably too low for long-term maintenance, but doable for a few months with intense activity. As the winter months are still here, it will be difficult until we can get outside and get some serious mileage in, but last year I did it, so I see no reason for this year being any different.
That said, I was in good shape for Palm Springs and really did well riding with more experienced folks on some difficult and/or fast rides, so my off-season training has worked well. Despite being 10 lbs heavier than events last year, I was much faster and more powerful this last week than ever before. The 105 miles I did on Saturday was taxing (due to the speed of the group I was in) but I was able to manage it well and completed the 105 miles in 5h 34m - whi*****luded two rest stops.
But the favorite ride was the 71 mile Borrego Springs to Julian CA loop. Wonderful scenery, challenging climbs (6500 feet in total), screaming 12 mile descent at 40-50 mph at the end for a big payoff.
Have a great hump-day!

So, I have a question for your Tom. If you rode faster and with more power being 10 lbs heavier this year, is it really necessary to get back into the low 170s for the season? The strength to weight ratio is an obvious advantage, but are you really getting that advantage if as you say, you've got more power now....? Or is it that if you remain at your current power levels but lose the extra weight, you'll be able to go even faster....is that the theory? Just curious. You're my spirit guide to exercise, you know, so I really value your opinion when it comes to these things.

102.8 lbs today. I expected to be slightly less, but here are the variables:
1. I inadvertently consumed more calories than I planned for (a little under 1500 cals w/ 90 carbs).
2. It's my TOM which always screws everything up.
3. My workout last night was a little tougher than usual, so I wonder if my muscles are retaining water for repairs.
I suspect it's some combination of all of the above :-) One thing's for sure - maintenance isn't boring!
Have a good one, all!
