Daily Maintenance Weigh In - Tuesday, September 17
178 - jump of a couple pounds... ugh. Diet hasn't changed, but I think I have been slack on fluids. I've increased veggie consumption over the past week - with a lot of root vegetables, so lots of fiber (and not enough going out!)
Easy week of workouts - resting up for 126 miler on Saturday. Going pretty much "solo" as my usual riding buddies have all bailed on this one. Small "brevet" event - a "brevet" is typically a long-distance (200k is really the minimum) self-supported ride (no "rest stops" but you can stop anywhere along the way for food, etc.) Not a race, but you have to finish within a prescribed time-window for it to "count." You carry a little card (the "Brevet" hence the name of the event) and get it signed off at various check points to prove you did the ride, and turn it in at the end. Your "feat" is then recorded in the big book.
Fun Fact: The "ultimate" brevet is Paris-Brest-Paris which they've done every four years since the 1890s. 1200 km, it takes around 80-90 hours to complete. To qualify you have to do a series of 200-300-400 and 600 km events prior to signing up for PBP...

I'm still here. Still recovering. Managed to walk 15 minutes each way to my son's school for back to school night last night. I was really sore in my back after, but I did it. Slowly Slowly. Xray was done Monday and I go over the results with the surgeon on Thursday. Excited to hear good news. The xrays looked okay to me. The top one isn't as "white" as the bottom, which usually indicates fusion taking place, but it all looked to be in the correct place and all the hardware appeared to be okay. I'm not a doctor, but just from what I've seen in the past. LOL.
My weight is bouncing between 152.5 and 153.5. Good enough for government work for now. I forget to weigh half of the time with everything going on, but I'll take it. I'm not really "on plan" right now, but I'm also not logging. I'm just doing the best I can with what I've got and using common sense. I'll get back to logging in a week or two when my sister leaves and I'm into some sort of groove again.
Yesterday was my daughter's (5th grade) first day at the online public charter school. She did well. Of course, she's already ahead, did the whole week's worth of orientation videos and started the assessments. I told her to slow down because it's still public school so we have to keep attendance and have a certain number each day and a certain number of days. LOL. She can't finish 5th grade in December, dude.
Learned a lot at my son's 7th grade back to school about how he's supposed to be doing things. I am told the teachers are having a 504 meeting this week and I'll be invited the one the following week so we can wrap that up. In the meantime, I made the decision to screw the rules and gave him a string backpack. He was trying to keep everything in a zippered binder and it wasn't working. He needs separate folders for each class (and his ADHD/Anxiety makes it impossible for him to use his locker). I also brought home all of his textbooks, sounds like they don't use them and I'll request classroom copies if he needs them at school. Most of his teachers actually USE their websites so I should be able to mostly monitor his homework there, I think. I'm still figuring out how to best help him help himself. He currently has a 31 in Math and the math teacher when I introduced myself and mentioned it seemed unconcerned. Ummm. Math is his strong subject! WTF? So, I'm watching what she does. I told him to redo a bad grade he got and take it into her, she did say they could redo certain things, so we'll see.
Otherwise, I'm okay. Working about half days at this point and trying to keep up with everything.

150.2 - kept me calories under 900. Shooting for under 800 today.
I don't go over 1000 most days, but I have been letting some stress in and making some "maintenance" choices.
I have a month until my 2 year appt and I would like to get down to whatever number I can before that.
You all have a wonderful day!
You're doing great, Slim. Rockin' it at 2 years out

Some days I don't feel like I am on top of it for sure. Bob is doing so great and it is easier for me to recognize the greatness in him and he says the same thing about me, so I guess it is good for us to have one another to motivate and support. You likewise, are awesome Sis! I am so in awe of you. You help me much more than you can know. Thanks for that. Love ya
120.6 today. Water weight is coming off well.
I've been getting lots of lab work done lately because of high serum calcium levels. This came up right after my surgery, so whatever is in play was there prior. I'm stating that because whenever they figure out what's causing it, I'm sure I will be dealing with lots of questions about whether my 'surgery/diet' caused this. It clearly didn't, and it would have never gotten noticed without the types of testing we routinely have done as bariatric patients.
Have a great day.
