Daily Maintenance Weigh In - Tuesday, September 10

Bonjour!

176 today.  I think 173-177 is becoming my new normal range after a summer of hard workouts.  At 11% bodyfat, I can't really expect to be much lower in weight... so fluctuations downward are likely to be dehydration, rather than weight loss. (I lost 9 lbs and  hit 167 on Saturday after a 4 hour ride in 95 degree weather - which unfortunately prompted a fainting spell after I got home, sat down, then stood up too fast - Luckily I ended up breaking my fall with my face, so no harm done - ask for the pictures, gruesome! Looks like I went mano-a-mano with Mike Tyson for exactly one punch! LOL!)

I religiously weigh every day, and record that in Livestrong... but I also keep a weekly weigh-in and graph all my trends, etc.  Example below from the past 18 months... The dark blue line is weight.  The arrows indicate Surgery date, Maintenance start, Hard core training start.  The red/green lines near the bottom are my maintenance range high-low lines... you can see in early August I made a pretty significant excursion north of my comfort zone - this was a multi-week international trip - I really let myself go, and old habits returned in the absence of weigh-ins and strict oversight of my diet.  So, lesson learned.  I got things back in line on my return...

It's also clear that I've added some weight over the summer  (black line gently sloping up between the two maintenance lines - shows my "trend" since entering maintenance)- but based on the DEXA it's all muscle, and I've actually lost some fat, so my new target of 175 +/- 2 lbs is based on solid numbers, rather than wishful thinking. I'll plan to have another DEXA in the spring, to make sure those gains aren't reversed.

I suppose I could take off a few lbs by having loose skin removed, but I hesitate to have surgery when it's not really causing any problems other than minor cosmetic issues.  Nobody wants to see a 56 year old with his shirt off anyway and the cycling jerseys do a good job of acting as a girdle to keep it all looking better than it should :)

151.2 - down another lb

The eagle (BM) landed yesterday. Woot!! It's the little things that make me happy.

Off to work again. Still in pain, but it is getting better every day. Really, the pain just make me want to rip the eye lids off the kids that give me dirty looks. But, I smile and walk away.

Yesterday, boys were throwing paper at each other. I walked over and said, "Pretend like you in high school and you know better than to throw paper." Should have seen the looks on their faces.

Well done Jubjub!

Confession time here.  2 pounds up.  So that is 6 pounds above goal.  Trying hard not to freak out and revert to the old never ending tune in my head that goes:  You are a loser ( in the bad sense NOT the pound sense )

Emotional eating.

Caught myself about 9pm and just stopped. So today with a lighter tune in my head will start again.

Back to basics.  Protein and water.

Will keep returning to this board to:

Keep me honest

Be inspired.

Best advice is not to hide... come here, post what's happening... writing things down has a certain magic to it - it's like it re-enters your brain through a different door, and helps you "do something" about it.  Just turning it over inside your head, for many people, doesn't have the same power as writing things down...

129! All time swell hell high. Up 2 pounds from yesterday and I can feel it. I want off the swell hell roller coaster. Unfortunately a 3-6 month roller coaster ticket was included with the plastic surgery.

135.6#  Yay!!!!!  My lowest weight to date...Now I'm hoping to stick within a range of 135-137.  140's is my danger zone...I can hear that song in my head from Top Gun.

I'm still having back pain and my right foot on top is numb.  I'd like to scratch my eyes out...going to physical therapy but not having much relief.  Whine over.

It's a good day in my little world of 2nd grade:)  Hope yours is,too!!!
