Daily Maintenance Weigh In - Thursday Aug 22, 2013
Happy cycling Tom and Happy Thursday to our maintenance group.
I am beyond ecstatic! Had a follow up with my surgeon today. I have exceeded 100% EWL. My labs are all WNL, except B12 is extremely high so I can drop the B12 for now, my next follow up is August of next year (isn't that amazing?), and I weighed 121.5 on their scale. Amazing! Dr said the positive benefits from exercise are obvious and I look great. I give God all the glory.Thank you God for seeing me through so far and I trust you will continue to do so.

156.5 - so back close in my comfort "for now" zone. I'm not doing anything resembling exercise. Hell, I barely move during the day, although it's getting easier. I'm also pulling out of my comfort food zone. As much as I hated doing it, I did control it and I think I needed. Back surgery truly is the hardest recovery I've ever done. The fact that I've not eaten my way to 200 pounds is a huge credit to my counselor. This is HARD.

I can only imagine - hang in there! Sounds like it's getting just a little easier.

Yes. Definitely easier. No more Dilaudid at all and I'm going 5 instead of 4 hours between Percoset doses. Still Valium every 6, but those muscle spasms SUCK so I'm not giving that up. I'm also using some herbal stuff (don't ask, don't tell) when the nerve pain gets really bad, but it also seems to be going away so I'm almost off of that too. Honestly, the nerve pains up and down my legs and butt was what was driving me the MOST crazy. The surgical pain was secondary to the nerves - that is what was sending me into a ball of a crying mess.
I won't be off Percoset any time soon, but I'm starting to feel more normal (although brain fogged, of course).
I miss driving. I miss that freedom.
In a few months, this will all hopefully be something I'll be laughing about. My friends started a Facebook page for weird stuff I say when I'm on meds. Kind of funny! I dunno if you can read it without being a member, but go laugh at me ;)

106.7 lbs today.
tomorrow is my 3 year follow up with the Bariatric Internist. My labs came back generally okay, but my iron is about one half of what it was last year. I will probably need to start iron. I will also discuss what surgical options, if any, are available to me for the worsening GERD. I have a hiatal hernia, as well as a loose lower esophageal sphincter . I really would like those things taken care of, since my symptoms are worsening and impacting my life more than they used to.
