Job interview out of the blue

Back in March when I was having some troubles with my boss (the world's most insecure control freak) I made some inquiries about other options but nothing really showed up. Haven't done much since as things calmed down here after some intervention from boss's boss.

Last night at 6:30 PM I get a call from a potential employer who is also a friend and can I come in tomorrow (that would be today now) after work to talk to him about a potential opportunity. Not sure it technically qualifies as an interview since this is something he'd hire me for if I'm interested, but still.

I've done very few job interviews over the years. Had a couple to get this job, which I've had for two years. Before that I did one to get my previous job that I had for 18 1/2 years. Same for the two jobs before that...and that's my complete adult work record. And I don't mean one interview for that job and others for jobs I didn't get - I seriously only had the one job I interviewed for each time. So each one is a bit unnerving for me.

As I typed the above I had a weird, weird realization: I have never had a job interview for a job I didn't get. In my life. How weird is that?

Hi Mom,

I'm the same as you - I worry prior to the interview, but I always get the job.  I think of that worry as energy I can use for the interview.  It sounds as if you already have this job if you want it - which is great!  Whatever you decide to do, I'm sure it will be the right thing for you.

101 lbs today.

Have a good one, all!

Mom, if you feel like it, keep us posted on what you decide.

Very cool for you. It's always nice when any decision set before us can lead to something good.
