Daily Maintenance Weigh In - Wednesday July 24, 2013
Yes, she's alive. Just thought I'd stop by and see how everyone is doing.
Today's weight: 138.0
Life is crazy on this end but in a good way. I find myself trying things I would never have tried before. I realized recently that I have finally broken out of my old way of thinking about myself and what I can do. I still think I won't fit in things and through spaces that I can, but some of the old hesitation has gone away.
Sooooo...has anyone tried ziplining? I so want to.

Awesome that you're trying new stuff!
I'm hanging around 175-176... I'm in India with a scale of unknown quality, and I'm battling post-24 hours of flying bloat, but should come down by the weekend.
One nice thing... I've been staying at the Marriott here - I have access to the exec lounge where they serve hors d'oeuvres each evening from 5:30 - 7:30... it's great because they always have two "meat" appetizers and some veg. I can easily make a meal and not have to waste money in the restaurant. Breakfast is included in the hotel room rate, so I only need to forage and pay for lunch. There's a nice mall attached to the hotel with a food court and I usually have been getting just an appetizer there too.
I was working out at the hotel gym last night - Very High Intensity Intervals on their stationary bike. This young indian guy was watching me and the power/heart rate numbers on the screen. When I finished he came over and asked to take his picture with me - he seemed sincerely impressed with my workout. Weird.
So here we are, KC and me...

Hi, Mom!!!! We miss you around here! I haven't ziplined before, but it's on my bucket list for sure!
155.0 - I looked up some new meds I'm taking and a side effect is weight gain. *facepalm* I have enitrely too much stress and stuff going on and surgery is in exactly one week for my back. I realized this morning that I'm not willing to do anything yet about that 5 pounds and I'm not willing to let myself stress about it. I have too much on my plate right now. I'm still eating well enough. And that's going to have to be good enough for right now. I am going to tweak a few things today to take out a few that have sneaked back in, but I'm not doing anything drastic. That's never been my style anyway.
I majorly need to destress. I might try to schedule a massage late this week or early next. Right now, life isn't handing me lemons, it's pelting them at me relentlessly ****

Hugs!!
Depending on the particular med, the issue may be as much the stress as the meds. I think you're on the right track: right now focus on eating right and staying on track. There will be plenty of time to worry about that 5 pounds once you've recovered from the surgery.
I knew you'd been having problems, but I've missed the details on your surgery. What are they doing next week?

Double lumbar fusion on the bottom two discs on my back (right above my back). Basically, they will remove the two degernated discs, put in a space and screw a steel rod through the three vertebrae to fuse it.
I'm so excited.
Not.
But I've got something else going on right now which... yeah. I'm just beyond stressed out. I'm taking 2 months off (at least 2 weeks completely and another 6 of part time). I'm trying to deal with some personal issues that have cropped up and get my company in a place that I can walk away from it for a while. Thank god for good employees. They are totally getting a bonus when I get back.
They say you aren't given more than you can handle, but I tend to disagree. I'm not in a good place right now. Not at all. BUT, I'm trying. And therapy is tomorrow, which is good. I just want to throw up my hands and go wallow in ice cream, but I'm not. That's a start.

I bought 6 pairs of shoes yesterday - EEEKKK!!! So much fun. I did 1/2 and 1/2 flats and heels. My feet have really changed with the weight loss. I went down a 1/2 shoe size and the old shoes are VERY uncomfortable. So, I really needed the shoes. I need one more pair of brown all-purpose shoes (like Skechers), but I have a pair right now that will be fine for awhile.
YAY!! I did it! Now, I have to stop feeling guilty for spending the money. That's the hard part.
Good to see you, Mom. I haven't tried ziplining. Tell how it goes.
