Daily Maintenance Weigh In - June 28, 2013
151.2 - Up almost a pound.
I'm noticing a trend with myself. I suck at picking the right foods when I am traveling. I've got to work out a better plan. I do fine with picking nuts (not the best choice, not the worst), taking a couple of protein bars etc, but when the sweet craving hits me in the afternoon, I totally lose it. When I'm home, I go for chai tea or a decaf coffee. But, that's not as easy on the road.
So my question is, what do you all do to handle a sweet craving when you are on the road?
Have a wonderful day!

100 lbs today. Good to know I can still reign in it when necessary. Although I shouldn't have been, I was surprised by the effort it took to moderate the carbs! I mean, it was nothing major, but it was work. I had gotten used to effortless maintenance before. Looking forward, I don't want to be on a see-saw of eating more carbs, then pulling back, then more carbs, then pulling back...but from what I've learned from this board, life happens and there may not be a way around it. I need to be prepared for that.
Slim, when I crave sweets, I think about lemons and limes. I imagine squeezing a lemon directly on to my tongue, I imagine it's sourness when it first hits me, and how that sourness just gets stronger and stronger as I squeeze more lemon on my tongue. I find this sensation to be punishing, and the craving for sweets goes away. Weird, but that's me :-)
Have a good one, all!

Sweet craving on the road? Lol, I'm no help there and speaking of nuts, next week we're headed to Louisiana with a planned stop at Priester's Pecans below Montgomery.....I will have to be very very careful with my choices! Good stuff!
120 and ok.
sweet cravings - hmmm. in weight loss phase i used to eat grapes. still do. i find them sweet and satisfying.
consider eating some protein if you are truly hungry.
last resort - atkins endulge bars. tastes like a candy bar but low carb and has protein. bette than diving into twinkies.

144.9#. I have to admit when I am on the road chips and M&M's have crossed my lips. When we travel next month I'm going to try to stick to if its not homemade, I'm not going to eat it. That's my plan and my good intention. My best defense to squelch the cravings have been quest bars, but I know that's a trigger for some people. I like the cravings peanut butter cups, but have never eaten a whole one...yet. Are you able prepare a thermos filled with tea or decaf coffee before you hit the road?
