No reflux pre-surgery. Pcp didn't think symptoms are related to a hernia, since there is no mention of one in the last upper GI series that was done when I was hospitalized post- op for complications. It did show severe gastrointestinal reflux, but I was about 4 weeks post-op. He has ordered an endoscopy to see what is going on. I couldn't get a ride for today, so it will have to wait for a couple of weeks.

Sorry to hear that it has come back for you.

So, I've had a rough 12 hours. I got a call late last night that my favorite uncle was being rushed to the ER/OR. He has had a torn aorta and aneurysm. This is the same thing that killed John Ritter. They were saying 50/50 chance for him at that point, he underwent surgery very early this morning and is now resting in ICU. If all continues to go well, he could be home in a week.

Send some good thoughts to my Uncle Johnny. He's an amazingly talented and loving individual who was a bright spot on my craptastic childhood. I have many memories of listening to him for hours tell tall tales while freehand cutting out sillhouettes of people and low country scenes. He's simply one of the best humans on Earth.

155.4 this morning. Not gonna see that 150 by Friday, but you know what? I've had a ****ty year and I'm not gaining significantly, so it's okay. I'm back on track this morning and working on it. That's all I can ask for and do right now. With the pain (surgeon appointment tomorrow) and depression and the surprise neck fusion... yeah. I'll take 155. Doesn't mean I quit but it means I accept what it is for now.

Maintaining through the hard times is success, imo.

Thoughts and prayers going out to you, your family and your uncle.

Take care. *hugs*

Sending positive thoughts your way. Lots of hugs and wishes for the best outcome. It is positive that he made it through the surgery.

you are doing great, in spite of the great stress that you have been under. You are a strong lady.

I'm not religious or anything, but if I were, I'd swear there was someone watching out for him. He is talking, awake and seems to be doing fairly well. Keep thinking those good thoughts because, while not totally out of the woods, things are looking up.

They said the doctors are amazed that he's doing so well... he really shouldn't be.

He's such an amazingly good person and I hope he sticks around for a good long time :)

152.8#. I am up after a self inflicted carb fest on vacation.  I'm back on track which would have never happened pre-VSG.  So, it's all good!
