Hello room have not been inhere for a while now. Well I have gained some weight I was 168 but started to gain a couple of months ago.  I have gained 10 lbs but do not like it . I did talk with my weight loss surgeon he told me I was fine just keep where I am and he is great with that . I am trying to get it back off. I hit the gym again for a month than started in May to ride my bike 15 to 20 miles a day I ride every day not missing one day not even with it rains. I am after a month of riding  at 175 now. I watch what I eat I do have great restriction after 3 years. I am wondering why my weight will not drop. I hope it is building muscle. Today I did 2 hours and 37 minutes on my bike and went 32.37 miles it felt great. I wanted to be 150 but never made it 165 is as close as I ever got. I can say I do love living and being able to do any kind of exercise I want. I am still in college that is why I have not been one working full time college and than riding takes up most of my time. I really do miss this room. Have a great weekend all.

My surgeon gave me the tool. Now it is up to me to use it right.

Hi Valarie! Glad to see you pop in.

You did a fantastic job of losing weight the first time. This probably isn't what you want to hear, but if you want to lose again, you have to do those things again. I don't know what plan you used, but here is what works for most folks:

*Stay under 800 calories

*80 grams of protein, minimum

*Keep carbs under 30 grams

*Keep your water/fluid intake high (64 oz of water a day is minimum. You should be at about 100+ oz a day with the amount you are working out.

Good luck.

A very wise woman (I think it was MomforJazz) once posted that you can't exercise your way past a regain.  Exercise is great, but the main driver of weight loss is what you eat.  I think Slim's recommendations above are dead-on.  I'd also add that if you're not tracking your daily intake (MFP or Livestrong are good sites for that), you should maybe start thinking about doing so.  Seeing your calories "on paper" really does seem to help us make better decisions about what we put in our mouths.

Good luck!

I am also almost three years out and too have gained weight, I have gained 7 pounds and am restarting my low carb high protein to try and loose this extra weight within the next few weeks.  You have done so well, I work with individuals who have had WLS and are three years out and have gained back at least 40-50 pounds so I think it is great that we are concerned about our small gains.  Good luck to you!

My dream is to be able to work with WLS people. We are doing a great job being concerned about our small gains. If we do not take care of this problem now I am sure I will gain that 40 to 50 lbs. I am so tough on my self because I do not want to gain back. Thanks to all for advise.

My surgeon gave me the tool. Now it is up to me to use it right.

I feel your pain.  I'm almost 3 years out and have gained about 10 pounds.  I too think we can't just exercise our way out of the gain.  It has to be a combination of eating and exercising.  I've been working with my nutritionist and she actually wants to me to track and increase my calories and really concentrate on fiber, especially from fruits and vegies, whole grains and nuts.
