Daily Maintenance Weigh-In - Thursday June 13th, 2013
Hey Folks...
Again not really up for disclosing my current weight but I am down an ENTIRE pound this morning from yesterday's weight. I have so much to learn about maintenance - going in to see my dietician next week for some support/guidance.
I am really struggling. :(
on 6/12/13 11:26 pm
Am so sorry you are struggling.
I think that we all go through this and when you listen and read the vets's stories it is the same. This is for the rest of our lives. It was a surgical fix not a mind fix.
You can do this. You have already done a huge amount of work. Just take one day/hour/minute at a time.
Build on your successes not your failures. For myself, because have been obese all my life it is rather easier to focus on all the negatives because my mind gravitates towards the negatives: you are a lousy person, you are fat and unworthy.
It is a struggle to get rid of those endless mind tapes but again it is a daily thing.
Like you I weigh daily and if am up more than three pounds I get very nervous and start scaling back.
I have only been in maintenance for 10 months and it is not easy. But so worth the end results.
We are all with you in this journey so don't be afraid to call out for help.
We are walking the same road.
123.4 today. Goal is 125. Only 3rd week in maintenance. Doing pretty well so far. Time will tell, but I am in control of this.
I think Pinkjellybean is having the opposite problem with maintenance in that she continues to lose more than she would like. Sending positive thoughts your way Pink and I hope you get this straightened out.

You hit the nail on the head. I am very underweight at the moment. I need to gain about 30 pounds to be at a healthier more ideal weight.
Can you imagine after years of being told to "get off my ass and lose weight" now I am being told to put some meat on my bones! What a mind trip.
148.0 - REALLY, really struggling with my asthma. Winds shifted and sent the smoke from the wild fires our direction. I thought I was fighting a little cold the last few days, but I've decided that it's all allergies and asthma. I almost lost control of it while I was at my kids' dentist yesterday. Kinda scary. I was sucking on my inhaler and thinking '**** I really don't want my 15 yo to have to take me to the ER.' I got it under control though, thank God.
I had to use my inhaler a few times last night, so I'm dog ******g tired.
Pink - hun, I'm giving you a big cyber hug. Even though I'd give my right kidney to have your problem, I'm sure you are feeling scared because the weight just keeps going down.
I hope your dietician says this to you, but just in case she doesn't I will. As long as you are feeding your body healthy things, you are doing this the right way. Weight loss is different for all of us, so it follows that maintenance is different for all of us. Keep yourself calm. There is an answer for you--even if that answer includes you getting to eat avocado 5 times a day, which I will hate you a little bit for. Nothing personal. I just love avocados
You have rocked your weight loss, you will rock maintenance. Just give yourself some time and stop freaking out about the scale going down. You have a big effing issue, in that you can't bring nuts into your house. So, you will have to find new ways to stop the weight loss.
I hope your dietician has some new (non-nut) ideas for you.
Take care.

Yikes! My son has bad asthma too! I am glad it worked itself out for you!
I am just trying to be patient with myself and take everything one day at a time. The bottom line is I am not going to be 90 pounds one day. LOL At least that's a goal right? Haha
the nuts issue is a BIG ordeal.....the other day I actually bought a bag of salted pistachios and just walked around downtown eating them so I didn't have to bring them in the house! I am a secret eater again! Heh.....
Hang in there, Pink. I'm sure that's scary.
154.5 - happy with that for now. Surgeon's visit is next Tuesday - can't get her soon enough. i'm having nice numbness down my left leg this morning. Fun times.

101.4 lbs today. I guess all that restaurant food finally showed up on the scale, lol!
Pink, I have some idea of what you're going through. Hang in there. High fat, low volume foods are key. The weight loss will slow down and finally stop, I promise you it will. At one point, I couldn't stop the weight loss either and was afraid I'd "disappear!" Well, I'm still here and nothing bad happened. You will be okay.
Slim, I'm sorry to hear about the asthma and allergies. I hope things get better for you today.
It's Thursday folks - one more day till the weekend. Onward!
