Experimenting with getting back to very low carb and upping the fats for more energy.  So far, so good... For a week, my  weight is staying at the low end of my comfort range, rather than moving back to the top of the range, where I've been hanging for a month.

I guess I'm still very carb sensitive - upping carbs to 100g/day just generated too much hunger, and it felt a lot like "anxiety" type hunger.  For a week on the VLC approach, that's gone.  I get hungry, but it's qualitatively different, and far less intense, especially at night.

I'm still trying to find the magic formula that is sustainable for the long haul.  It seems that adding many carbs back in just won't work for me... not too surprising.

I know how you feel. the only carbs that aren't triggers for me are veggies. Luckily, I love veggies.

You probably already know this, but fat is to your intestines what protein is to your stomach--fat is the full signal to your intestines. It can also help with feeling full longer. At least, that is what my NUT told me. So far, it hold true for me.

Yep, seems to be working.  When I up the carbs I get food-focused, and think about eating all the time. When I exchange the carbs for fat, I even forget to eat occasionally.  Not often, but it definitely has a much different "feel" for me.

Hi all,

I've been lurking for awhile. I had VSG on 4-2-12. My HW 335. SW 291.2. I thought my goal weight would be 138. I wanted to lose to 135 for wiggle room and to be able to say I lost 200 pounds. Today's weight 133.0.

I'm still figuring out maintenance. Maintaining or even gaining a few pounds scares the hell out of me. I liked losing and seeing the numbers go down on the scale. A few days ago I was at 130.6 and thought it would be nice to see 129 on the scale. I'm having a tummy tuck and breast lift on August 2nd and the surgeon thinks I will lose 5 - 6 pounds in excess skin. How long did it take everyone to adjust to maintenance and to see your new body? I have a BodPod on Thursday and hope the results will help me see that I'm really at an okay weight.

Good mornng and welcome.  ( sorry am a day late! )

Congratulations on your weight loss. Well done.

Yes, maintenance is an interesting journey for sure.  For myself I have indulged in sugar and wheat and while it is yummy I, like you,am freaked out when the scale goes up.

AND I don't like how I feel after the binge.

We can do this.  One day at a time is all that is expected.

All the best.
