152.6

LOL. At least I'm not gaining like crazy with the pain patch and TOM. I'll take it. Whatever.

At the beginning of the year, I promised to have lunch with my daughter once per month. This is the last day that I have to do that. I like spending time with her, I HATE being in an elementary school lunchroom. My OCD goes off the charts. LOL. I'll be grabbing us Subway. Yay! 10 more days of school left here.

End of the school year - brings back such fond memories!

176 today - a pound above my mx range.  A week ago I popped up 2-3 lbs in one day and it's not going away. I've been rock solid now at 175-176 without the big swings in my range.

Thinking "out loud,' I'm not really sure what's going on.  I'm not doing anything different - looking at my eating log.  The only thing I can point to is some good, consistent working out - that hopefully is increasing muscle mass.  Based on my last body fat analysis I didn't have a lot to lose in that department.

I'm feeling a little anxious about the weight gain, but based on my workouts, I'm also having trouble believing it's fat gain... My legs have gotten bigger and stronger, so I'm going to assume that is the gain... I'll do a BF analysis later this summer and double check.  Right now the pants are fitting the same as they have for the past 4-5 months, power output on the bike is way up over the past 2 months, so I have to conclude, tentatively, that I'm adding muscle.

My protocol for the past few months has been low carb except on heavy workout days - Normal/easy days - I don't change the diet,  if they're short and very intense I do a shot of carbs to recover and build muscle. If it's long (3+ hours) I do carbs during and just after.  Up to a week ago this didn't seem to affect my weight much, as I bounced around in my Maintenance range.

I hope so, as I have some serious climbing in front of me on Sunday's 100 mile Gran Fondo New York ride.  7,000 feet of climbing.  I hate carrying an extra pound going into that - but I guess if it's all new leg muscle I can live with it.

Speaking of which... I had a professional bike fitting/adjustment earlier this week. Wow, what a great experience.  A few tweaks to how my bike was set up (seat height, seat slant, new, wider handlebars, and adjustments on the my shoes cleats) made a big difference.  Also got custom molded in-soles for my cycling shoes, new handlebar tape, and video analysis of my pedaling mechanics.  I felt treated like a pro racer!  The coolest part was a pad he put on my seat that did an analysis of the pressure points on where my butt contacts the seat to make sure the sizing was right and that I wasn't doing anything asymmetrical.  Very very fancy...

Very impressive. There is quite a science and art behind professional cycling. Good luck on your ride!

That's for sure. It's a very analytic sport - on the training side anyway.  I upload a data file after every workout. My coach then reviews it and gives me feedback, and tweaks upcoming workouts, days off, etc.

148.6 - dropped almost 2 lbs in one day. Thank you water retention.

Big week coming up. My nephew graduates next Thursday and my parents are staying with us for a few days. I'm spending more volunteer time at the library. My daughter's birthday is also Thursday. She has expertly found a way to stretch out her birthday over two weekends--that's my girl
