Daily Maintenance Weigh In - Wednesday, May 8, 2013
153.7 - 2 more until my lowest.
Today's Question: What was your favorite part of the day yesterday? This is a game we play at the dinner table every evening with our kids. We go around and tell everyone the best part of our day that day.
Mine was simple: I was able to walk a block and a half with my daughter and our dogs yesterday. I was sick and my legs were super sore after, but I did it! I've been unable to manage that for a while now.
---- whine ahead ----
Sick as a dog. Doctor yesterday said it's an infection and put me on a Z-pack and told me to avoid other humans for 48 hours. I had to cancel my spinal surgeon appointment and reschedule for JUNE 18, hoping they have a cancelation somewhere and I can pop in there. Ugh. I had a plastics consult scheduled this morning, but just called to cancel that one too and asked them to call me back to reschedule. I KNOW it will take me a LONG time to reschedule if left to my own devices. I hate that because I was finally okay with going. I will be again though. I can do this.
So, working on getting better. Working on losing the weight (it never ends). Working on not letting myself feel too sorry for myself. LOL!

150.4 - started working toward goal again yesterday.
My favorite part of yesterday - hmmm... (warning - back story ahead...proceed with caution) seeing as I received a **** ass email from my SIL giving me a huge guilt trip for not being able to make it to her son's graduation (was just told that we were invited on Saturday--graduation is May 23rd). I told the Library (my new job starts in July and I've been volunteering every week) that I would volunteer the entire day of my nephew's graduation because two people in the Library have kids graduating that same day. I told them a week ago that I would volunteer if they needed me.
She's known about his graduation day for months. This is her MO. She is the tornado and we are all supposed to swirl around her.
I wrote her back and told her that I was bummed I wouldn't be able to be at the graduation. Hopefully having my husband take the day off and take both of our kids out of school to attend his graduation would show my nephew how much we love him and how proud we are. I will be at the picnic afterwards. I told her that I was struggling with what was the best way to handle the new job AND go to my nephew's graduation. Going back on my offer to help the Library didn't feel like a good way to start a new job.
Did I mention he barely graduated? Yep, just squeaked by.
So, back to the question. My favorite part of yesterday was making a big vat of Elina's Southwestern Chicken Soup (with my own alterations). I feel ready to take on lowering my calories and setting off toward my person weight goal again.
My favorite part of today will be seeing the chiropractor. I'm in some fair amount of pain today from karate yesterday. Not sure how much longer I can handle karate. Gonna start looking at some alternatives.
You all have a wonderful day.
106.7 lbs! This the lowest that I have seen. After my 4-5 weight gain earlier this year, it shocked me into taking that off, plus a few more. I am a very little person ( hard to see it at times), so this weight is good for me. Clean eating and exercise, including weight training, are my friends. Slow and steady wins the race for me.
the favorite part of yesterday, was receiving approval for a 5 week vacation. Going rafting in Montana and Idaho, and will be going to Yellowstone. I'll be gone all of June. Yippee!

That's awesome Gail! Congrats on being under 107 lbs! I really admire your day to day dedication to your VSG lifestyle.
Five weeks of vacation - that's decadent! Good for you. Take me with you ?

I have never been one to drastically cut carbs or calories, except during the weight loss phase, when I kept to 800 cal/day and 40-50 carbs/day. I truly believe that when I started weight training at 4 months out, it helped me to get the last 25-30 lbs off. I never had any major stalls or plateaus. Some weeks, I only lost a pound, but over a month, it adds up. In addition, for me, cutting carbs and calories drastically, when I am in normal bmi range, doesn't make sense, since I would be losing some hard earned muscle. At higher weight ranges, when more body fat is available for burning, it makes more sense. I have been losing in a stair step fashion and slowly, but I am fine with this, because I am in control and can feel the difference in my clothes, even if the scale isn't showing anything. I have been losing by ounces.

99.4 lbs today.
Yesterday was not a great day, but if I had to pick a favorite part, it would be when a fellow employee told me that my just presence in our new offices (my company is splitting into several locations - long story) has made people feel better supported and heard. That was nice to hear.
