Daily Maintenance Weigh In - Saturday 4/6

Happy Saturday! My daughter and I allowed the husband to do "sneak out Saturday" with us this morning and we had breakfast at The Egg & I. They actually KNOW how to poach an egg, which is nice. My son would sleep all day if we let him so we went grocery shopping afterwards to get it out of the way. Came home, and he was still sleeping. LOL

Drum roll, please... 159.7! So 1/2 pound from my lowest. Still aiming to maintain between 160-165 for a while, but I'll take it. I'm nervous about the steroid shot and if it's going to cause weight gain :(

What's everyone up to this weekend? Anything exciting?

150.4 - I'm officially in maintenance - NOT where I want to be. So, I am working on getting the crap (mostly nuts) out of my diet.

We are buying bikes this weekend. Can't wait. We have a beautiful 10 mile ride around the lake we live near. The weather has been mostly beautiful lately, so we are getting the itch to ride again.

Woohoo!

You all have a wonderful weekend.

Cool - have fun with the bikes.  I was talking with my cycling coach this morning and we were hypothesizing that my carrying an extra 125 lbs around for many years did a good job of prepping me for cycling... I've made good progress in the past 6 months, and it feels like i'm redirecting that leg strength that used to be for carrying my extra weight into something more fun. :)

That's funny about the extra weight. My sleeved girlfriend and I were talking about how strong our legs are - even after weighing less.

I was handle bars that don't make me have to lean over and a big honkin' tracker-type of seat so my ass doesn't ache.

Those are my only requirements.

I started with a "hybrid" Trek 7.6FX  Flat handlebars, more upright position, but with skinny tires that roll well on the road or bike path.

We ran over to Dick's Sporting Goods to check out what they have. For $300 a bike, I'd rather go back to the old bike store where we got our current bikes.

We are going to look at the old store tomorrow.

I'm annoyed. Those bikes were serious POS's. I have a Gary Fisher Mountain bike that is 17 years old - great condition, but my son wants it and I don't want another mountain bike. I want more of a road/path bike with the biggest seat available. So, I dunno.

This feels too much like the s-word. starting to freak me out.

Finding a great saddle on a cheap bike is unlikely.  But there are literally hundreds of aftermarket seats to choose from.

One thing people often do is buy a mountain bike and put roadie wheels on them.  That's basically what a hybrid is.  My Trek is a frankenstein concoction of MTN bike and road parts.
