Daily Maintenance Weigh In - Sunday 3/31

Okay - I'm kinda buzzing on chocolate, so ignore me if this all goes to hell.

I know you are freaking out. But, you have to stop. THIS IS NOT YOUR FAULT!!! I did most of the damage to myself BEFORE I was obese. Bad knees, hips, ****** up back, jacked up ankles,  all pre-fat. You gaining weight did not to this and even if it did - it's in the past. I know I'm totally guessing here, but I think you are blaming yourself. Here you put all this money and time into getting healthy only to have more physical problems that probably affect your family. There's probably more stuff, like fear, and what if's, but it all is the same basic thing - mental self-mutalation. SO just stop.

I could be completely off the mark. If I am, just reach through the screen and slap me.

I know you want to punch me in the mouth right now, but you are going to have to get in line behind every ******g person on the main forum.

Yes, the pain is real. I ******g completely understand. But, you are adding to the pain by letting it turn into a virus in your thinking. Stop the spiral by looking in the mirror and say "I love you." When the scared, crap thinking starts, force yourself to think about 3 awesome things. Can be anything.

Have you seen this? Jessica's Daily Affirmation She's got it right.

I totally, completely understand having to dig out of a funk.

*hugs*

I'm sorry I didn't see this yesterday. I hope today is a better day. Chronic pain is a *****

{{hugs}}

I know your focus right now is on the hip/back, but I wanted to throw something out there on the knees. I had horrible chronic knee pain pre-op. In fact I thought one knee would absolutely need to be replaced shortly after my weight settled and the other down the road. Right before my sleeve surgery, I discovered Orthovisc injections. It's 3 injections (once a week for three weeks) into the knee. You can think of it like a foam that settles in the nooks and crannies and cushions the knee. It lasts 6 months to a year until the stuff breaks down (seems to be right about a year for me, I can feel it starting to wear off now). The difference has been huge, and I wouldn't consider having surgery on it as long as the Orthovisc continues to work this well.

Highest weight: 335 lbs, BMI 50.9
Pre-op weight: 319 lbs, BMI 48.5
Current range: 140-144, BMI 21.3 - 22

Candy,

I just want to give you a big hug.  I've been following your journey on this site and you have done so well.  Better than well, you are such an inspiration to follow.

Being in pain is so debilitating, I hope you can get your back problems figured out.  You have done amazingly well with this huge challenge.

I think going into maintenance mode is a smart thing to do right now while your back and legs are giving you so much pain. Once you get that under control you can get back to losing weight...though I see you are so close to goal.  Congratulations on your weight loss.  Later on you can deal with plastics if it fits in with your life at that time.

I didn't see a post that mentioned another surgery so I'm not sure what you would have done....but I hope you get it all figured out, soon.  Being in pain lowers all our defenses.

I am in the age bracket where a number of my friends are having hips and knees replaced because of arthritis and they are so relieved once the surgery is past.  The surgical procedures are so much more advanced now...

I just wanted to send you a hug and some support.  Hang in there.  Happy Easter.

My VSG was in June 2011. In April 2012, I had emergency neck fusion surgery (and 3 months of recovery/drugs). For this to be happening exactly a year later is screwing with me. I'm hoping they will give me injections and it will be fine. I don't want more surgery. I also had a uterine ablation in June 2012. In October 2010, I had a fissure surgery. LOL. That was my first surgery. I'm looking at knee surgery at some point, I'm sure. And eventually plastics.

Dude... enough already! :)

Thanks. I think I need to just maintain for a while and try to get myself together.

I feel better already though, I love you guys. xoxo

100.8 lbs today.

Happy Easter to those who celebrate it.  For those who don't, the sales on clothes are pretty terrific this weekend if you feel like going shopping!
