Hey all....

I'm on location in Milan Italy right now going through a week of "Combat" eating. Restaurants for just about every meal.

I am in maintenance and plan for these kind of situations and can eat pretty freely and keep my ratios and quantity in check.

It's normal for me to experience "More"...... more carbs, more sugar more calories...... on these trips......

I start out by going into it "light" I'll cut back for a week or two to get on the low side of my range....... than with mindful eating I'm pretty good by the end.

I thought I'd show y'alls what I do sometimes.......

I'm usually eating with other people and just order what I want.... sometimes just an app. and sometimes a full entree.

If I order an entree I just portion my serving out within the plate or I will re-plate using a bread plate.

Here is an example of a "re-plate":

This is what I ordered from the appetizers

This is my "re-plated" version on a coffee cup saucer.

Some people might not support my WLS decision.
Those people remind me of slinkys. Not good for much but it would would bring a smile to my face if someone pushed them down the stairs.

Your cooking looks better - am disappointed in Italian cooking in Italy. Love your pictures & recipes.

I really like the concept of "re-plating."  Thank you for illustrating that....something about pictures being worth a thousand words...

what a great idea. so many of us had the habit of eating whatever was served to us that it makes sense to change the picture of your meal. and you do it so artisticly!!!   diane

I prefer the second one. I find restaurant meals overwhelming and much prefer to face a meal I have some chance of being able to eat. (I use a B&B plate at home)

I usually ask for a takeaway box at the beginning, and move the bulk of the food into it. That tends to leave a scraggly looking meal, but one that I can mostly eat. I think I'll try your replating - I deserve an attractive meal as much as the next person.
