Costco Cilantro Lime Shrimp......

Am I the last one onboard with this ????

I've read about some people who eat this...... it always looked like to much and it lists a small amount of sugar and flour in the ingredients....

I bought some yesterday........ excellent quality shrimp..... cooked to perfection(not over cooked) and spiced/flavored just right!!!! I thought to myself when I bought it...... this is gonna be a salty mess that I'm just gonna be throwing away...... wrong!

I can't taste any sweet..... and can't detect what flour would do to it.... taste very bright and clean......

I think it's some very convenient relatively clean protein......???

Am I missing something???

Hi Frisco:

Sorry am no help at all.    But don't shrimp have lotsa carbs?    I don't really know but a friend who has had some stents in her heart was told to stay away from it.   She doesn't know why and neither do I.

It's the cholesterol.......

I have to watch that also......but in the amounts that a VSG patient would/should consume..... it (in general) should not be a problem occasionally.

This chart show an 85gram portion which is 3oz.

Zero carbs.....

No meat has carbs. It's all protein and fat.

There use to be a belief that shellfish had a lot of cholesterol but I believe that has been dissproven. Plus there is a lot of evidence that eating cholesterol is not what causes heart problems but inflammation is what causes the fat  you do eat to clog your arteries.

I love them! And I've been eating them for years, but I usually don't buy them unless we're having people over because of the quantities...

I have never bought them, because of the quantity, but they look very tasty.

i get these almost every time i go to costco. they can be dumped into soup, added to stir fried veggies, mixed with scrambled eggs, made into shrimp cakes or whatever. its a staple in this two sleeve house. i often make egg drop soup with canned broth and then add the egg and some of these shrimp.   glad you like them.   D

Man!  I'm so jealous.  All of that sounds soooo good (I think I'm hungry now...) and I have a stupid Sam's membership, darnit!
