Can you eat an apple?
That's very interesting. Perhaps that's why I ended up with diabetes in the first place. The diabetes is in remission at this point, but I sure don't want to go back there. I have to find another way. The problem is that with being vegetarian, dense protein is hard to find. I had found these protein bars called Macrobar Peanut Protein and I LOVE them. Unfortunately, they are high in sugar and take me over the MFP limit with the other sugars I take in during a day. If you hear of any ideas for dense proteins for vegetarians, please do let me know. I am going to try a hard boiled egg at lunch. I don't know why this didn't occur to me earlier. I am over a year out from surgery and haven't had a hard boiled egg yet.
Thanks for the info.

Msybe someone already said this and Im too ill to read all the responses so if this is a repeat my bad BUT
They make a product in the canning section of the grocery store called fruit fre**** is citric acid and asboric (vit C) in a shaker bottle. I use it EVERYDAY to make my kids lunch because they both have teeth issues, braces and some missing that make eating a whole apple impossible. Anyhow..you just shake it all over the apples, or any fruit and it keeps them from turning brown. i can even make up a few batches and they last for a day or so.
Hope this helps! BTW the product is made by "ball" the makers of other canning products
Slice the apple, put it in a ziploc bag, and add a little lemon juice. Shake it really well so the lemon coats the slices. Then you can just pull out the slices as you want them and they won't be brown. Just be careful not to use too much lemon or they'll be quite tart. I do this when I make my husband's lunches, sometimes I'll cut several days worth at one time.
I can only eat a small apple in one sitting.
