That's exactly what I do.  I sometimes get called all kinds of interesting names for doing it, but it works for me.  :)

Makes really good sense. Going over range is a signal that things are slipping...get back in range by going into WL mode then figure out what was slipping and fix it.

My sense is that the way to avoid a significant regain is to be vigilant about anything beyond range and act immediately. I haven't hit this problem yet because I'm below where I want to be, but it's likely that at some time I will as all my WLS idols have and I'm just as human. And Dr. C's advice is exactly my plan if that happens.

That is the harsh reality of our situation and the ONLY way to keep it off.  Words to live by...gotta weigh regularly and keep tabs on it - no burying your head in the sand...Thanks for the reminder...

Great advice! I completely agree and while I am newly in maintenance mode, I plan to do exactly that.

I couldn't agree more. My usual comfort range is three pounds. Traveling 17 days in December, indulging more, new desk job, plastics revisions and no scale... BAM! Six pounds. I've been back in weight lss mode this year. Took six weeks to shed six pounds. Sleevie still works with no grains, no sugar and a close eye on calories. I hope I learned my lesson because I certainly don't care to revisit that freakin feeling. At least I clearly understood where the pounds came from. I wasn't sitting around asking why the heck it happened and immediately went into scale crisis management mode.

Hi Lee,

The same thing happened to me. Stress, decreased exercise, and no tracking for about  a month and some pounds came back. Going back to previous and successful weight loss strategies, have brought me down to one pound of goal weight. The good habits developed early on have really, really helped to regain control. The tool still works, when the rules are followed. I also knew where the pounds came from. Food tracking is my best friend. Weight gain doesn't happen in a vacuum.

Except when you forget to change batteries in your scale for four years.  Then it can happen in a way that really screws with your head.  :)   I am so glad that little crisis is over.  :)
