Good morning!

Today's weight 137, puffiness seems to be improving hooray!

The problem with a day of relatively warm weather like we had here yesterday is that it makes the return to the cold seem that much worse. Spring can't be far away, right?

Highest weight: 335 lbs, BMI 50.9
Pre-op weight: 319 lbs, BMI 48.5
Current range: 140-144, BMI 21.3 - 22

175+ lbs lost, maintaining since February 2012

Maintaining well.  Also wishing for the warm weather.  I have been crazy at work lately and DH has been sick.  I found out last night that I have to go out of town next week.

Just curious... I know it wasn't your reason for the LBL, but do you have a thought on how much weight came off by having that excess skin removed. Sorry if you've already answered that... I haven't been able to read everything lately.

No problem.  One thing to consider - I am 6'2" and lost 1/2 of my body weight.  That said, during my LBL/Thigh Lift/Muscle Repair.  That said, they removed 7.4 lbs of skin.

There will be more removed when I go back for the upper half of the surgery.  I still have a good bit of excess skin on my upper back and chest.  No idea how much that is, but I would guess at least 2 lbs.

Did that translate to the scale?

Not immediately.  When I came home from the hospital my weight was UP.  And it went up for a few days.  I had a ton of swelling. Go find my "Great Balls Of Fire" post for more details than you really want.

The swelling can persist anywhere from 3 months to a year.  I seem to be lucky and it lasted only about 3 months for me.  I seem to have settled down a bit, but can still feel it if I stay on my feet all day or wear something really tight around the waist.

I had originally set my maintenance range at 185-195.  After surgery I subtracted 8 lbs from each number and reset that to 177-187 after my surgery.  I seem to be maintaining at just below that range pretty steadily now.  The first few months was really a mind **** though as it would swing wildly from day to day based on the swelling.

168.6 - new personal low.

My size 30 jeans are getting loose.  Yikes!

The cycling training has redistributed weight from my upper body to my thighs it seems, as overall weight hasn't changed THAT much.

Have a good day!

Tom, in the spirit of experimentation, I dropped the protein bars from my menu yesterday (okay, so it was a small step)!  Instead, I had full fat greek yogurt with three kinds of sugar-free syrup - JUST KIDDING!  I had the GY blended with half a cup of berries - no sweetener, artificial or otherwise. It tasted..well...like it needed a sweetener, but I suppose my taste buds will adjust.  Insulin response or not, I think I crave sweets simply because I've acquired a taste for them, so if gradually lessen all the intense sweetness I taste everyday, maybe I will eventually stop craving them.  Thanks for bringing it up. I was headed in that direction anyway, but I needed a little push.

Haha, funny.

I dropped all sweetness yesterday - except i ended up having a quest bar on the way to my cycling workout - i wasn't totally prepared.  But I still feel like i had fewer cravings.

Today, no quest bars so far, no sugar or artificial sweetness either.   Going pretty well.  I have to say that even after two days of minimal sweetener, the cauliflower I'm eating tastes better than I remember  it ever tasting before.  Hope that trend continues!
