going to bed feeling "full"

I always plan a late snack as well into my daily allotment, have since the beginning as well. If my stomach is physically growling, I can't sleep.. so I have something small before bed- and usually something a little sweetish tasting- butternut squash pudding or eggplant (no bread) bread pudding has been it recently- both lower carb, but sweetened, and both have a little fat & protein in them, sometimes topped with a spoon of whipped coconut milk.. just depends. It's not much, but it works for me.

I get insomnia too, but rarely get out of bed once I'm in it- so for better or worse, I just toss & turn.. once in a blue moon I'll get up and have a cup of tea or warm almond milk and cuddle on the couch with a banket until I think I can try to sleep again. Sometimes that works better than laying there being frustrated that I can't fall asleep..

I hadn't really thought about it until this thread, but yes, I eat something 1-1 1/2 hours before bed.

I'm totally okay with this as long as it is planned. I still take a PPI at night. I tried stopping it, but got some nasty reflux.

I don't attempt to figure out why because I spend enough time in my own head - any more time and I'll be hugging myself in a pretty white jacket. It's what works for me. That's all I need to know.

If I eat something an hour before or drink 1/2 hour before going to bed. I wake up in about another hour. I wake up struggling for air. It's as if my stomach acid comes back up into my throat causing me to choke.  it's really scary feeling.

I plan on asking my doctor about it during my annual checkup.

It reminds me of that old doctors joke. If something hurts when you do this...then don't do that any more.

Other than this I have no issue with my sleeve. Therefore I never go to bed feeling full.

Interesting thread Diane.  I also plan a snack about 1-1.5 hours before bed.  It's in the plan for the day, but it makes me feel better and fall asleep faster.  After years of the "Don't eat after X time" being drilled into me, I'll be honest, I felt a little guilty about it and wondered if it was really a good thing to do.  I'm certainly glad to hear I'm not alone.  Thanks!

Hmmm never considered this as the reason I can't sleep.  Need to do a test drive and see if it works for me!  Thanks for posting this.  You may be onto something!

Some people might not support my WLS decision.
Those people remind me of slinkys. Not good for much but it would would bring a smile to my face if someone pushed them down the stairs.
