Hey Mom- baking Quest bars..

Just a shout out, you had posted about the cookie dough one which I just got- and like zapped, like I do with the brownie one.. Well, it's really cold here- and that means any excuse to use the oven. Rolled & squished a bar into 2 cookie shaped nuggets and baked in a 350* oven for about 7-8 mins, just until slightly browned. It works! It works so well in fact that I'm going to try this with a few flavors..

Sounds good!

I tried a recipe from the pB2 site last night... basically PB2 + water and egg - they call for coconut palm sugar, but I used truvia.  Texture not too different from a quest bar.  About 60c per cookie and 7 net g carbs.

Ok, for those that aren't triggered by stuff like this- I have to say, oh yeah kiss.

I am not going to feel guilty about anyone *****ing that these were just too good and they had to eat 4 of them at one sitting.. Do not complain if you decide to try it for yourself.

That's it- I like Quest bars baked better than straight. They do come out cookie-ish and a *****ewy/crunchy/browned around the edges.. Just had a banana nut one, and from now on, these in a baggie will live in my purse instead of the regular bar.. they also seem a bit more filling baked rather than just unwrapped.. prob from getting a bit more dense.

Plus, one bar=two cookies.. could even poss stretch it to three small flatter ones.. not  bad. Even my husband approves.. they don't puff up like they do in the micro- but they also don't get too overdone either (burned a few in the middles by zapping too long.)

Holy cow, you weren't kidding.  I tried this with Banana Nut, Cookie Dough and Brownie.  Totally changes the nature of the bar from a soft thing to a nice crunchy cookie.   Sometimes I gots to have a crunch - and it seems like so many of the foods we eat lack that....

Thanks for the tip!

Success. I baked a brownie and a cookie dough last night and just ate some.

I broke the bars down into 4 small cookies each. Then today instead of packing a Quest bar I packed 4 cookies. I love this because I can mix them up; today I had 2 brownie and 2 cookie dough pieces.

I have some banana nut on order, will try them when they come in.

If you haven't already, try baking the apple pie flavor.  I've never baked one, but I've had one slightly browned under the broiler - mmmm wonderful!

Thanks for the tip Jo about baking these in the oven & how they come out more dense.  I'm gonna try this!
