Daily Maintenance Weigh In - Thursday 1/31

I had to work at stopping the loss...I'm still working at it, though I really think I have it this time (every time I say that I start losing again). I'm 5' 8.5" and fairly large framed so I think my current weight is too skinny and actually hope I will have gained a little from the prednisone.

You're right to try higher calorie foods. Two suggestions:

Track your calories daily if you're not. If you are clear on how many calories you're eating, you can figure out what to do.

Eat on a schedule. Set alarms in your cell-phone if you must.

Pre-op weight: 319 lbs, BMI 48.5
Current range: 140-144, BMI 21.3 - 22

175+ lbs lost, maintaining since February 2012

Thanks Mom.  I'm glad to not be the only one struggling with this.

Yes, I do track daily on MFP and eat on a schedule.  When I'm really focused (and the stress is at bay), I can get my calories up to 1,300 per day.  I can't seem to stuff in much more than that.  And I can't do it consistently from one day to the next, so if I eat 1,300 cals today, I certainly won't be able to do it again tomorrow.  It just feels like there's no room in my sleeve for more food.

Ughh.  I will try to be more systematic about the way I eat and will try to get more cals in.

Thanks again!

Do you like shakes? I find I can get my calories in by making a shake with ice (use things like 2% milk or pb, I even make the ice cubes from milk) to get extra calories in. I sip it over a period and it gives me calories and fluid at once.

In fact, this will be the first habit I change if I ever have regain as it will be an easy way to quickly reduce my calorie intake.

I love shakes!  I have one each morning as part of breakfast.  I love the idea of getting extra calories in, plus fluid!  Very efficient!  To be honest, I worry about my processed food consumption sometimes (I have a shake and two protein bars per day, usually).  I know I really should try to stick to real protein instead of the refined kind, but at this point, I think I need to prioritize the weight gain.  I can tweak things again when I'm safely over 100 lbs.

Thanks again Mom!  It's great to have another set of eyes survey the problem.
