Daily Maintenance Weigh In - Monday 1/7/2013
The things that help me are:
-I stay away from certain foods that I know if I ate I would either right away or
eventually not be able to moderate
-Certain foods, like low carb ice cream, I have as a treat once in awhile at the
ice cream place. If I buy some for home, unless we're having company and
everyone is eating it so there's none left, it calls my name until it's gone
-I keep basic supplies at work so I have what I need for breakfast, lunch, and
snacks
-I weigh and post here most days, as doing so keeps me accountable. I try to
be as honest, with myself and others, as I can
-I listen to the experiences of those who are further out, and learn from them
Always get my water in and vitamins.
Track on here and my pocket calendar (weight).
Every other day I do arm weights and squats. I manage to walk w hubby in the mall 3x a week.
I subscribe to Fitness Magazine for exercise tips and info on weight loss studies.

162.4 today. Still 3 pounds from goal. But that's okay with me. I track every day on MFP, I pay attention to my MFP friends and see what works and what doesn't work for them. I am a little uncertain about maintaining, but I feel good the way I am, I have done most of my weight loss with little exercise due to knee issues, but now that I have had the surgery I am starting to exercise more and I'm unsure how that will fit in. It will definitely be good for me in many ways, but I don't want to lose much more But I agree with Mom - I will be self-monitoring for life. It is so much a part of my life now, thatt it really doesn't feel at all like a burden. I just want to REMAIN healthy for the rest of my life, because we all know life has challenges and they are better managed from a healthful vantage point.
Heading down- 142.4.
For me, keeping carbs mostly out of my life, and definitely out of my home. I rarely have grains, and only if it's something wonderful will I have a bite.
Letting treats & foods that I love get pitched into the trash instead of taking them home. Today a co-worker asked if anyone wanted the 6 tins of fantastic dried/candied fruits and or chocolate covered gourmet bits (Oh my $$$) gifts another doctor sent us.. When they first came in, I had one of each. Enjoyed them immensely and have been trying to ignore them calling to me all week.. so it was relief combined with wishing the cleaning lady would just swoop in and take them ALL the way away that very second until the end of the day. They will be gone by morning.
I measure to the gram on things and have since the beginning.. slightly control-freakish, but the alternative isn't what I want anymore. I can sacrifice a little spontaneity to have a healthy body, thanks. I have friends that insist that their hours of cardio workouts are going to make them lose, but all it seems to do is drive their appetites higher, and for the few years of time in the gym they've put in, they've barely budged any of what they wanted because they will not monitor their intake.. I try to explain the trap, gets me no where.. so I need to stop trying to "save" anyone in that way.
So, for me and me alone- changing what I consider food vs filler (or worse) vs treats was essential as was learning a lot about biology/metabolism along the way, and closely monitoring what I eat as well.
