What are they thinking?
I am talking about friends that know well that we are a two sleeve household and yet bring us several quarts of soup as a christmas gift! Yes its healthy soup but its more than we can ever eat. Not a big deal, we will eat what we can and toss the rest. Same person brought me several quarts of soup right after my surgery which went down the trash.
I bet lots of us will get inappropriate food gifts this year. I just say thank you and then pass them on or toss them . What do you all do about this stuff??

I received an entire chocolate cake from the woman across the street who had bypass 10+ years ago - it "failed" as she puts it. I reciprocated with a bag of homemade cookies. Difference is, I had to take everyone's word for it that my cookies were awesome because I didn't eat any. Didn't eat any of the cake either.
If it's yummy and healthy, I divvy it up and freeze it for lunches! I am ever the squirrel for packing away single-serving portions for later. I get around to eating them eventually.
If it's cake/candy/cookies- I bring it over to a friends house, have a bite or two there if I feel like it and leave it behind. If it's junky store bought stuff- tra**** or send it in to work with my husband.. though doing that less as I don't think anyone there really wants it either!
My FIL sent us a goodie basket from Harry & David. It contained truffles, candies, cheese, crackers, spicy spreads and caramel corn. I kept the cheese and took the rest to work. It's hard enough to eat well without the added temptation of gifts and just plain having stuff around. I try not to have any treats in the house, lest I eat them.
Everyone means well. It just isn't my cup of tea anymore!

We got a very nice and unexpected sunshine basket from our church last week, as I'd shared that my dad wasn't doing well. They all know of my journey, and have been extremely supportive. They included almonds and fruit in the basket, along with the usual sweet treats that the rest of the gang ate, so I was able to have some as well.
I received a couple food items......
- Huge tub of Macadamia nut Caramel Corn...... ate about 400cals. worth over 3 days or so(could feel the butter running down my throat) ......sent it home with my God Son....
- Christmas Cookies....... Ate one with a Cappuccino (this could be an hourly habit like pre-op) gave the rest to the guys to bring home to their families.
- A Molinari Salami...... Keepin it.....
My only other Holiday sweet was a small piece of moms scratch built pie....... (2 small pieces over two days if I'm tellin the truth)
All in all..... Just about the right amount of wrong !!!
