VSG Maintenance Group
Daily Maintenance Weigh In - Tuesday 12/18
Good morning!
Today's weight: 135.0
Taking my daughter for a pedicure this evening. I normally don't see much point in the winter, especially now that my feet don't emerge from warm socks, but she loves to get her toes done in festive holiday style. I'm not much for shopping or make-up or any of that so pedicures are our girls bonding thingy.
Highest weight: 335 lbs, BMI 50.9
Pre-op weight: 319 lbs, BMI 48.5
Current range: 140-144, BMI 21.3 - 22
175+ lbs lost, maintaining since February 2012
Thats sweet!
176.4 again today - a lot of water in my lower legs and feet. I cant see the veins in my feet. DH got me a couple of new ties for Christmas last night. Ben Sherman Skinny ties in cool plaid patterns. He saw I wanted them but wouldn't get them for myself even though they were only like 12 at Marshalls. I Love Him.

How are you doing, in general, after LBL? Seems like that procedure is a much longer recovery than the VSG... I'm pretty sure I'm not going to bother - nobody wants to see a late 50's gentleman with his shirt off anyway :)

I am doing great after my LBL. The recovery has not been so bad. My healing is going much faster than expected - My scars are already at that angry red stage. The main thing is the swelling - depending on how you heal it can last up to a year, but most is gone in 3 to 6 months. Since all of the lymph ducts that connect my lower body to my upper body were severed - I have to just wait for them to reconnect on their own. Think of it like an IP network with a ton of severed nodes - you have connectivity, but its slow.
I didn't have much pain - I threw my pain meds away the sunday after my surgery (which was a wednesday).
I did the LBL not so much to show off with my shirt off, but more for me. I wanted clothes to fit right, I wanted the image on the outside to help re-form the image in the inside. I wanted to be able to sleep without pinching all of my empty skin whenever I roll over. I wanted to be able to be on top of my husband in an intimate moment and not see my loose skin draped over his body.
For all of those reasons - it was SOOOO worth it. I would do it again at any age.

Very cool. Nice network analogy :); glad to hear the healing process isn't as arduous as I had thought.

Today's weight 162.8.
This running this is getting me exhausted - too many "long" runs I think and long for me is 5 or more miles. Thursday's run is going to be shorter - probably around 3 miles since I am to do 7 miles on Saturday. Starting to get some aches and pains and need to pay attention to those so they don't turn into injuries, will be looking up preventions today...
178.8 this morning
A pedicure with your daughter sounds great Mom - have fun!
Still in a bit of a funk, but trying to stay as positive as possible. Things with my dad are going downhill. His wife is meeting with his team today, and they may be stopping treatment. Knew this day was coming, but hoped it wasn't so just yet. If I am finally over this virus, I'm going down to see him over the weekend. My kids are excited for Christmas, which is helping my outlook, and food is, miraculously, in its place, so I'm not faced with that stress, thank God!
Thanks Mom! I was starting to feel better Sunday and yesterday, but am, once again running a temp and feel lousy. I'm sure stress isn't helping. I did call the dr., as it's been a week, and have an appt. in the morning. Luckily, all of my work appts. got canceled today, and I'm working from home, so can rest in-between.
