Daily Maintenance Weigh In - Friday 12/14

Good morning!

Today's weight 134.6

OK, here's a weird one for you: ever since I got the hideous stomach virus last Saturday, tummy has been incredibly tiny. I mean like 2-3 months out tiny. Anyone had this problem after a stomach bug? How long did it last? I also can't tolerate anything sweet. I've been able to fix my protein smoothies by not adding the pack of sweetener I used to add, but my protein bar treats are out of the question.

Odd

I thik the loss of appetite is normal after anything affecting the stomach - it shrinks back quickly.  My restriction was on overdrive after my LBL.  Greek yogurt would stuff me to the point of foamies almost. Like anything you will achieve a balance again.

Good morning:

Sorry Mom that you are experiencing all of this.  I haven't had this issue  so far so can only say what HAVE gone through after a big bout of stomach flu before WLS.     Like you my tummy shrank and shrank and I vowed to never eat beyond its capacity again.  But of course I did and the tummy got bigger and bigger.   I had also been wanting to wean self off of the coffee dragon and did just fine for the first few days. ' Oh, one little sip won't hurt. ' and was right back at the coffee all day routine.     For me it was always a temporary thing.  Now, as I said, am not sure just how I would do with the stomach flu.

Again two pounds below goal.  ( I work in an area where no one brings anything - we had our Christmas gathering and no one brought sweets.  The other three people I work with:  one is a diabetic, one has food allergies and one is gluten free.  Made for a lot of veggies and fruit :) )

Enjoy the day.

This is totally normal and will eventually go away.  Just take it easy and don't push anything.  Get more calories from liquids for now and slowly add in more food.  I am sorry you are dealing with this, it's no fun at all.

I am 105.6 this morning.  That's fine with me, although I do start to notice anytime I am over 105 lbs.  But of course .6 of a pound is nothing and I am sure it is jus****er weight.

I am new to the VSG Maintenance Group.  Have been working on maintenance for about 2 months now.  During that time I continued to lose only to have people telling me I needed to EAT!!!  I started making a conscious effort to add healthy carbs back into my diet.  I was still continuing to lose.  During the last week I have attended a lot of holiday get togethers and have found myself eating sugary things.  I also gained about 6 pounds in that week.  This was a real eye opener for me.  As long as I wasn't eating sugar it was easy to maintain on just added carbs.  Being a recovering alcoholic (21 years this month ) I can see where sugar is the devil for me and just another addiction!  My starting weight was 243.  Had my VSG on 1/23/12.   Reached my goal in about 8 months and have been trying to maintain since.  The lowest I got to was 131.  Today's weight is 134.5.
