VSG Maintenance Group
Goal weight reached yesterday, on to maintenance today!
Hi everyone, and thanks to Frisco for posting the address for the maintenance group. Heading in to new territory here. Been so focused on limiting intake and eating only protein for the last year that it's going to take a little getting used to to start eating more variety again. Looking forward to learning from everyone here. Not sure I'm going to continue to weigh once a day now, but will see.
My doc told me to expect to gain up to 10% back once I increased my calories, but I'm hoping not to gain more than a pound or two, if that. On the good side of things, I have yet to experience hunger. It's gone. I get 'head hunger' but that's about it -- sometimes I just WANT something! LOL! So, I don't think I'm going to have many problems trying to stay away from food because I'm hungry!
Right now I'm not saying 'no' to anything, but I am closely watching portion sizes. I'm hoping that I'll be able to eat all things in moderation and not have to avoid anything, but time will tell.
I've slacked way off on my exercise program, mostly because of family stress. I'm taking care of my 91 year old mother who is on hospice and failing. It's been very hard for me to stay focused on anything, especially exercise, right now. Need to try to get back on track with walks and workouts (have a Total Gym for weight lifting).
Looking forward to checking in here on a fairly regular basis!

Welcome and congratulations on hitting goal!
If you track your calories and stay on top of things, there's no reason you should "bounce back" 10%. RNY patients do that as they lose their malabsorption, but there's no similar phenomenon with the sleeve. The main reason we bounce back is that we start to let things slip around the edges in our eating and exercise as we relax from the weight loss phase.
I do have a number of things I cannot eat in moderation because they call to me whenever they're around. Nuts are that way but not nut butters. Any crackers, pretzels or chips are that way too, as is dark chocolate candy. The problem is that my sleeve will moderate each portion, but not now often I go back and dip into the container. I also can't moderate pasta or breads.
Most people tend to have a few foods like that, so keep an eye out for them.
