VSG Maintenance Group
Daily Maintenance Weigh In - Thursday 11/28
Good morning! I don't know about you guys, but the full week after a short holiday week (or a vacation) just seems to me to go on forever. But after today we're halfway through!
Getting a new bike for Christmas, hooray. It'll be my only group gift from Hubs, Sis and Mom together as we don't do extremely high budget Christmas: http://www.giant-bicycles.com/en-us/bikes/model/cypress.dx.w /11530/55920/
I like a more upright bike because I am getting old and have back pain if I can't sit up straight. I'll probably have the handle bars adjusted up a little so I sit even more upright. The trade off, obviously, is that it's not as aerodynamic as the ones where you bend over the handlebars, but that's the price I pay. I don't go for speed anyway.
Today's weight: 138
What are you asking Santa or loved ones for this Christmas?
Highest weight: 335 lbs, BMI 50.9

172.0.
Its great that your family is getting you te Bike. I know about the tight budget - it'll be lean here too. I am just looking forward to spending some time with DH and friends.
CLOTHES! I need some more business clothes that actually fit! I am going to start having to travel again for work more regularly to customer sites so need more casual business attire. I really want a sexy new suit too - something that shows off the waist I have now (Not to mention the butt!). I'll need some workout gear that I can wear in public too - since I will be working out in hotel Gyms.

I am so glad that I work in the office of a plant. I wear jeans to work every day, and in fact so does my boss and most of the other managers. The site manager dresses it way up with khakis most days. I have 5 pairs of the same jeans (2 are one size larger) and some shirts/sweaters. That's my work wardrobe.
You'll have to get a picture in that suit for us once you get it!

Tried posting last night, but alas....
So, Joseph Abboud makes great suits. The cuts on the slim fit are fantastic. Very nicely tailored to suit our new slim bodies. They are mid price range as far as well made suits go. They are also made in the USA which I consider a big plus! Another line I find very flattering is Calvin Klein line. He has designed a slim fit and an ultra slim fit. I have a slim fit suit in a shark skin gray wool that has become my favorite. It comes in perfectly at the waist and accentuates my shoulders. The cloth is an exquisite, finely woven wool.
If you find good work out clothes give me a heads up on that!
I can't tell you all how badly I wanted to either not post at all today or lie like a rug. Up another stinkin' pound! 159. And I had the best eating day yesterday that I have had in months. *sigh* Oh well, I'm doing my best to keep up the cleaner eating.

I've noticed that there's no direct correlation for me to the previous day's eating and my weight. If you take the previous week's eating overall there's a correlation but not day to day. Try to hang in there and look at the big picture. Are you measuring and tracking your food? That made a huge difference for me when I was losing.

Don't let it get you down. Remember you have to have a 3500 calorie deficit to lose a lb, and a 3500 calorie overage to gain a lb. You can't do either in a day (at least not post VSG, LOL).
Stay on your plan, and you'll see those extra lbs.

Good Morning from a very wet Northern California!
So I posted late a few evenings ago about joining this group. I have been lurking and learning from all of you for a while. Today is the one year anniversary of my surgery and I have lost 116.8 pounds, with my initial goal of 159 (normal BMI) in sight. I have done this with few problems, I track on MFP every day and I am 63. But today comes with mixed feelings. I am so grateful for having had this surgery and for having been successful, although I know it will be an ongoing journey for the rest of my life. But I am PISSED today also. 9 days ago I had a total knee replacement, spent 4 nights in the hospital, came home last Friday, and it is not an easy recovery. I knew all that. I expected it. I was/am prepared to do the hard work to have this be a complete success so that I can do at least some of the things all of you talk about - hiking, biking (Mom - love that new bike!), and for me I want to kayak. The whole time I was in the hospital and since being home I continued to eat pretty well. Thanksgiving in the hospital is not nearly as tempting as what you all had to deal with. But - here is the pissed off part - I finally weighed this morning and I am 179.2 which is 12 pounds more than I was the day before surgery!!! I can see that my entire leg is still swollen, I still have 42 metal staples running up my leg, I was on IV fluids and narcotics for those 4 days and I am still on narcotics and a blood thinner for 4 weeks which is standard protocol. But 12 pounds??? How can that be? I am peeing, pooping (a bit erratic, but still happening), so I just don't get it. I know it can't be fat, but where can I be storing 12 pounds of anything?
I know it will resolve itself. I need to not allow this to give me license to eat anything I want, because what the hell? But it is really disappointing. I have a nurse coming to my home tomorrow (part of the routine) and I will ask her.
Thanks for listening. I promise I am not always this much of a downer! And what I want for Christmas is a working knee and the ability to return to work full steam!
Judy
Most of it is right here: "I can see the entire leg is still swollen." The blood thinner is also contributing. It's fluid and as frustrating as it is, you're right it will go away.
Water is surprisingly heavy.
If it's any consolation, I had to have extra doses of my steroid to help my body deal with my sleeve surgery so when I went home from the hospital I weighed almost 20 lbs more than when I went in. Talk about un-nerving!
