Maintenance Means Same Jeans.......
You can do any kind of calculations you want.....Scale, BMI, Bod Pod, MyFitness Pal, Calories, Carbs....yada yada.....
Maintenance means the same size jeans year after year.......
I'm over 2 years now..... same jeans.....
Never knew jeans could last so long !!!!
I would blow out the inner crotch with chub rub......in two or three months.....
And often would have to buy the next size up..... all the way to 54" waist.......
I now have about 5 pairs of Levi 505's in various stages of wear.......All 31" waist.....
2 years.... same jeans.... same size.... never happened before !!!
My maintenance goals are pretty much simplified to wearing the same size jeans next year.....
Jeans don't lie and are not very forgiving !!!!

frisco, I was just thinking about this while I was walking down the hall at work today. I've kept the only pair of size 10 trouser jeans for work because when my weight would go up a few pounds, these jeans would "feel" more comfortable. I lost those few extra pounds & I was still wearing them today. They look ridiculous & I know for a fact I could take them off with 1 hand without unbuttoning them, it's ridiculous. I told myself that I would get rid of all my size 10 pants so that I wouldn't let myself creep back up but for some reason my comfort level wanted me to hold on to these jeans ... not anymore. I told myself earlier today as I was walking down the hall that these jeans are going into the Goodwill donation bag today. Even some of my 8's are loose normally so I need to get rid of these suckers once and for all.
Thanks for this post!!!

I have a couple "comfy" pairs that I can take off w/o unbuttoning too.. I've been really reluctant to give them up since I can poof up like a sponge for a couple weeks a month.. but.. I have none, NONE yet that fit the way jeans are supposed to- hugging the shape! I NEED to get to the store and try some on, I need a kick in the butt to do it though. I think I may take a 6 or 8 to have them fit the way they are supposed to- the 10's slide off, I have a pair or two of 8's that fit good right out of the dryer, but I can pull them down by the end of the day.. and the legs are all too baggy. I would love to find a nice pair that fit well and hug in the right places! Any suggestions on your fav brands/styles? Still have not invested in "new" jeans yet- been doing the thrift route still.. but I think I may be ready to start looking.

Hi Jo,
I still have been pretty thrifty with my shopping since I don't consider myself officially at goal yet. The last couple pairs of jeans that I got were from TJ Maxx; the brand is Seven Jeans & I like them because they seem to fit well on me... they sit right below the waist but not too low waisted... I'm not a teenager anymore to pull that off!!! haha! I notice I can find the better jeans at places like TJ Maxx but I really have to look. One of these days I will like to try a nicer place to buy jeans but I don't know where to start... maybe Macy's? I do like skinny jeans w/lycra because I feel like I look smaller in them. I have always carried more weight on my bottom half; sort of pear shaped I guess so if my jeans are a tad baggy I feel too frumpy.

Try Gap Long and Lean. Or...perhaps Skinny Jeans! I won't do them, but I do have a couple of pairs of skinny style pants that I don't find as offensive. :)
I am also a fan of Ann Taylor (or Ann Taylor Loft, cuz it's cheaper) Curvy fit. I don't think I'm all that curvy anymore, but I do have a little bit of hip/butt left and of course, non-plastic belly to deal with and the rise on these is higher so I don't feel so naked in them (and my boyfriend prefers my butt in the AT versus the Gap if that matters, so I guess they hug my shape better?). But: a word of caution, while I can wear a 6 in Gap, I'm still a 10 in Ann Taylor.

Thank you, Frisco, for this enlightening post. I really struggle with ups and downs (in weight) and get overly obsessed when the scale shows a few pounds up. I need to remember that if my jeans fit the same, then all is good and I need to stop obsessing.
I was thinking the same thing that I have clothes I've had since I hit goal and they still fit. Like you, this has never happened before. Usually I was having to get increasingly larger sizes each year. But now, no more! Yeah US!
4 years or so is how long they last :-) At least for girls...I kept buying new jeans in lots of colors and styles for fun and finally, the other day, had to retire some because they were taking over my closet. They all still fit, still size 4, but I convinced myself that they were wearing out! My new rule: if I buy some new item of clothing, something has to go to Good Will. It's truly bizarre to have a gigantic walk in closet with clothes that are all the same size and all fit!

Ya mean no sections........and I'm not talking seasonal.......
Now, Fat, Fatter, one size down, two sizes down.....and never in a million years.....
And the never in the million years clothes are long gone now !!!

My trousers range from 36 to 42 inch. Different manufacturers, different cuts. Very difficult to let go of the Rohan 42 inch as I bought them in 1985 and only started to wear them last year. It's a great goal, staying in the same size clothes next year. I feel the need to clear out all the clothes I've kept as insurance, thanks!
