VSG Maintenance Group
2 year Surgaversary!!!!!!!!
Well its been 2 years since my surgery, I had surgery in Mexico, Dr Rodriguez in TJ. Very good Dr, I had a good expreriance there.
I had my gallbladder our about 5 months ago and that surgery was way worse then the VSG was!
I have lost 115, in about 10 months. My lowest weight was 115 Everyone said that I was looking to skinny, but I loved being so tiny.
I have 3 problems,
1.) I have a problem with the yellow bile coming up in my throat, sometimes I will wake up with it going into my lungs and down the wrong tube, I hate it! It is soooo pain full and burns like crazy, I now take gavascon for it and elevate my head at night and that seems to be keeping.working.
2) Loose skin! I would love to get a mommy make over, I hate my ass the most it like dropped and now my butt bone hurts if I sit for a long time, people say that I look older cause my face has more wrinkles and has drooped.
3.) I am 2 years out and since I had the VSG, and I did so well and was down to 115 lbs, then I was introduced to werthers caramel filled hard candy, and I feel in love, I addictive behavior I eat a bag a day some times more, its like I have to have them! well I have been eating them for 2 months now and I have gained 15lbs!!!!! I am so pissed off at my self.
I cant believe im letting my self gain this back, Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Other then that I love my sleeve I would trade it for the world, I still have good restriction, accept of course I can eat my hard candy all day long, one right after another!!!!! Sorry so long, I dont know how to put pics on here but you can go on my profile and see me, I have never counted calories or measured my food, I just eat till I start feeling full, it works for me. Good luck to all of you on your journey, it is life changing, and the best thing you can do for your self! GOD Bless you all~ Lisa

Congratulations on the surgirversary!
You know what to do regarding the candies. You didn't likely eat them when you were in the losing phase because it was exciting to see the pounds come off.
From what I have seen on this board and in my own limited experience, maintenance should make us ever more vigilant, We had VSG because we had a problem and in my case it was my very unhealthy relationship with food.
Just because we have had the stomach surgery doesn't mean that we have had the brain surgery and that is where, in my opinion, the battle is fought.
As said, you DO know what to do, so this is hopefully a gentle push to do it.
All the best.
Except for what Apple above said- no major suggestions.
I have to say- for me at least, the maintenance stage really just is a bit harder but more fun), and makes me even more aware of making good choices the vast majority of the time. In losing, I had a very strict and set eating menu.. In maint, I get a teeny bit more room to play, but not a whole lot- so I have to make the best decisions and anticipate and plan for my indulgences, as I have them now-
I am a food-logger and tracker though still.. I can't just eyeball things or wing it just yet. I would nibble and graze and go into denial and start adding too many treats into my daily intake. My only suggestion is what I know - start tracking and cut out the treats.
Bags of candy in the house would be too much for me to handle saying no to every day. I will occasionally buy one piece of good candy when I'm out, and enjoy it. I'd stop buying the bags of them to start- it's a small change but that's likely your biggest change that tipped you in the other direction so badly and quickly..
Congrats on the two years. you have done well.
there are sugar free werthers I think or some other sugar free alternative. I find that when i crave a sweet that grapes do the trick and are filling. Or try sugar free mints. if the hard candy has sugar you can really damage your teeth with constant use. my dentist and i were just talking about this.
but great job on your weight loss. it gets better and better.

Congrats on 2 years! I wish there were some easier answer to what you need to do, but there isn't. You have to throw the candies away and never buy them again. I promise that after a while, the craving will go away. You'll think of them wistfully but not with that NEED you mention. There are LOTS of things I can't let in the house--ice cream, most types of candy, chips, etc. Oh, I eat all of these things once in a while, at a friend's house or in a restaurant, but I can't have them in the house. And it's a small price to pay for staying slim and healthy! And, not to be alarmist, but you are only 2 years out, and maintenance is going to get harder. You don't want the 15 lbs to grow into 20 or 30...and if you let more bad habits back in, that's the risk, unfortunately. So, back to basics and those pounds will come off!
