What do you think
about having coffee again? My doc said "no coffee" and I was so grateful to be losing weight, that I never questioned why. On this site I've seen many people talking about having their coffee, but wondered if any were told to lay off the stuff.
Just wondering. I can live without it, but it sure would be wonderful to have just a half cup in the morning. Minor stuff I know, but.....
Thanks -
I don't recall having a coffee restriction much past the initial healing phase.. I added it back at 2mo, no issues other than my tolerance for caffeine is back to where it used to be- so I have 3-4 cups a day.
Caffeine isn't a diuretic unless you drink it in very large amounts, so the worst that may happen is you realize the oils are irritating or give you reflux- in which case- avoid it.
Well there really isn't a medical reason not to have coffee with a sleeve. With RnY they used to say no coffee because it was thought that coffee caused ulcers and RnYers are more prone to them than we are. But, actually, it turns out that coffee doesn't cause ulcers. So even that advice is out-dated and wrong.

ask your doc why he/she says no to coffee but then make up your own mind. mine said its fine after a month. in fact he thinks its an appetite surpressant and a good thing. i used it from 3 weeks with half hot skim milk. now i have it with half and half. if i had been told no coffee forever, i probably wouldn't have had this surgery LOL. glad i did and i drink 3 or 4 cups a day. diane
